We are requesting a call with your team to go over this issue together. We have discovered that a change was made and some profiles were given "modify all" and "create" on things that are a major issue in them having. Can we please get on a call together?

                      Hi Jen,

I brought up your concern about users being able to process Temporary Contacts NEEDING to have permission to create Campaigns.

When PaaS creates Opportunities, it updates the Primary Campaign. If an organization used Salesforce without NPSP or C&P Apps installed, there is no concern about having permission to 'create a Campaign' because populating that field on the Opportunity does not add a Contact to the Campaign, it only adds the Opportunity.

But NPSP has automations that add the Contact to the Campaign if the Contact is the Primary Contact on the Opportunity, and C&P's Event app also has to add Registrants and Attendees to Campaigns. In order to add members to Campaigns, Salesforce users have to have "Marketing User" checked on their User Detail - and checking this box not only allows them to add Campaign Members, bu also allows them to create Campaigns.

This isn't a new requirement, I think it came to your attention because Salesforce's latest release not only requires object permissions for users, but enforces field-level security as well. In order to continue to process Temporary Contacts, we've had to ensure that the Primary Campaign field has create and read access during post-installation. Because this field-level enforcement caused so many of our customers to have problems processing Temporary Contacts, we updated the error messages to be specific about what field-level permission was blocking the transaction from processing.

In short, there's no way to allow users to process temporary contacts without giving them access to create campaigns as well. Fortunately, Salesforce has a lot of control for visibility. If users that shouldn't create Campaigns MUST be able to process Temporary Contacts, you may be able to look into the different ways they would access that - new buttons on the campaign tab, etc, and remove those options from their layout.

                      Sincerely, Amanda

                      Regards,
