  • Multiple Event Registration Sites, Event Listings, and Site URL problems

I have two separate Sites set up in Salesforce, which I want to link to two separate Event Listings in Click & Pledge. The post-installation instructions for Event Registration say that in the Site Detail area, you must set the Active Site Home Page to EventRegistration_0. But if I want two separate Event Listings, then I need to set one of them to a different CnP VisualForce page, such as EventRegistration_1, right? Otherwise, the two Sites will just point to the same Event Listing.

In fact, this is what I've already been doing and it seems to work (although the nice short typable Site URLs I've set never work). I just want to make sure I'm doing it the right way.

On the URL problem, my Default Web Address on the Site Detail screen is either http://selfhelp.force.com/inservice or https://selfhelp.secure.force.com/inservice, but those produce a blank page with "Powered by Click & Pledge." The actual URL I have to use is this monstrosity: https://selfhelp.secure.force.com/in...0N50000001t1sK

I have taken to using a URL shortener; any way to fix this?

Thanks and sorry for compound question!

    David,

I answer the second question first. Test this: http://bit.ly/TbB2wu

I just created a short link using bit.ly and it works. These sites are really nothing special other than a database that takes a link and redirects to another so any link should work.

      David,

You should NOT create multiple pages as you are suggesting. Remember each event is being served with database parameters and that is how multiple events can be set up. For all practical purposes you should not create a new link or a new page for any reason. All events can be served using the same Site.

Take a look at the following:

The above is an event listing page with multiple events.

The only thing we have done is simply click on New Event and used the same URL in the setting as the previous setting. The parameters identify which event.

      Hope that answers the question.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that you can put multiple events on a single event listing page. My issue is that I do not want all the events listed together. I want two separate sites with different events listed on each. The reason is that we provide two different kinds of training: one is for private lawyers seeking continuing legal education credit, where we charge a fee. The other is for social workers in my own organization, which are free. If I commingle them into one listing, then all the lawyers are going to sign up for the free ones. Trust me, I'm a lawyer; I would do the same thing.
The C&P Event Listings tab lets you create multiple Event Listings with different Site URLs, so I didn't know this was prohibited.
Fact is, it's working perfectly right now, so I guess the question is whether it's going to screw things up somehow. We've already run numerous trainings through both Sites and they worked fine.
        Thanks for your help!

Thanks. I knew the URL shortener would work. I was wondering if there was a way to get the designated native URLs to work. But the shortener is fine for now.

            David,

Salesforce parameters add to the length of the URL and there is no short way for doing it.

It is worthwhile exploring this and I will bring it up with the team. Could be a feature of the next release but for now the answer is no.

              David,

You can set up unlimited number of listing pages as you set and you can do whatever you want with the URL's.

The same site URL can be used for all events or different ones used for each. You have the most flexibility and you have found out. It is working and it won't screw anything up.

You may want to upgrade to the latest release- we have a new release today posted at: http://forums.clickandpledge.com/showthread.php?t=579

Let us know if we can be of more help.
