  • Custom Questions not updating opportunity

    Custom questions are not updating Opportunities created through event. I have used custom questions before, but they are not working now in the active Event. I have built test questions and tried radio buttons and checkboxes, with Opportunity fields of various types. I have tried text fields, checkboxes, and picklists. Org ID is 00Di0000000eL4T, access has been granted.

    I have found that only custom questions from the Registrant have values sent as observed in the C&P Data records. If the question is associated only with a specific Registration Level, the value for the question is not sent through the XML file. We have specific questions for different registration levels, and that did work in the past. Any suggestions?

      Yes, please note that level custom questions cannot be mapped. Only registrant custom questions can map using custom question mapping.

        When did that change? I have used the level custom questions in the past.

          And why is there an option to create level custom questions if they don't work?

            One other thing I've found is that when you select "Checkbox" as the custom answer type, the answer is sent with a comma "," afterr the answer. If you select Radio Buttons, it doesn't add the comma.

              We don't have the option to map the Level custom questions since the beginning and it is for Attendee records only. In order to take additional information of Attendees, we have added the custom questions to the Level.

              Regarding the Checkbox sent with a comma, it is because the Checkbox can have multiple answers whereas the radio button doesn't. We are separating the answers with commas in the case checkbox.

                How can I capture the Attendee information in Salesforce if it is on a Level custom question?

                  I went back and checked my Org. I did use Custom Questions on several Levels and mapped them to the Opportunity object. They did work fine for doing this in 2018.

                    Ah, it looks like you are referring to SKU mapping. Please note that Level custom questions cannot be mapped through Custom Mapping but it can through SKU mapping. You need to set the SKU for Level and based on that you can map it. You can map the SKU to the following three objects, Account, Contacts, and Opportunity (In the case of Account and Contact, it will map to the Registrant contact, not Attendee).

                      No, I had forgotten that the Level custom questions create Custom question objects that are attached to the Contact, but that cannot be mapped. This is useful for one-off events where the contact may only attend a single event; it is very difficult to use for reporting. You can generate reports with the information, but it requires export and Excel manipulation to tabulate the results of the these questions. I had used level custom questions in another org and forgotten how difficult it was to do reporting. This is the first time we are conducting a virtual event, and we are delivering gifts before the event. This requires more detailed reporting before the event, and we will be delivering different gifts for different levels. We will scrap the custom questions on the event and contact the clients directly to schedule the gifts.
