  • Free Tickets and Event Management Issues

    Hi,

We are trying to set up registration for an event that provides the option of "buying" a free ticket or buying a ticket for a certain amount (essentially a donation).

We set up a Level that allowed for $0 tickets. During a test, I could register, and my registration went into the Salesforce Temporary Contacts. However, once in the Temporary Contacts, the transaction could not be processed. Instead, I received this error message:
    Error:
    Attempt to de-reference a null object--null--1717--(CnP_PaaS) --System.NullPointerException
The stubborn person I am, I tried clicking process again and received a different error message:
    Errors
и Record ID: cannot specify Id in an insert call
и Insert failed. First exception on row 0 with id a1e4p000006s4PqAAI; first error: INVALID_FIELD_FOR_INSERT_UPDATE, cannot specify Id in an insert call: [Id]--null--124--(CnP_PaaS) --System.DmlException

I then went into the C&P Event management > Additional Information > Levels, but I could not reach that page. Instead, I received another error message:

"Attempt to de-reference a null object
Error is in expression '{!dispalyeventorlevel}' in component <core.apexpages.components.ApexIncludeComponent> in page cnp_paas_evt:additionalinformationpage: (CnP_PaaS_EVT)
An unexpected error has occurred. Your solution provider has been notified. (CnP_PaaS_EVT)"

Is there anything I can do to fix these errors so that I can process free and paid tickets for this event? If not, what is the best way to set up registration so that people can buy a ticket or get one for free?

    Thank you!!

These kind of errors tend to occur when you have made changes using native Salesforce tabs rather than doing all changes through Event Management.
All the changes you make to an event need to be done within the Event Management tab.

If you've made changes outside of the Event Management tab, your best bet is likely to recreate the event from scratch in Event Management, and just delete the old event. Don't 'clone' it, you might recreate the same error in the new event.

If you have only modified the event using the Event Management tab, then we should probably investigate. Grant access, and let us know the name of the event, so we can take a look.

      Hi, Thanks for your reply.

We only ever use the Event Management tab. We granted you access. The name of the event is 2020 Academy of Women Achievers Luncheon.

The order numbers of the Temporary Contact transactions that won't go through are 50322-200825123852403 and and 50322-200825123849137.

      Thank you!

        Good day @[email protected]

We reviewed and found that the order numbers which you are referring to are not from the Event which you mentioned i.e. 2020 Academy of Women Achievers Luncheon perhaps it is associated with the different Event which is deleted from your instance. Since those are orphan transactions you can't process it from temp. You may delete those temp records through the maintenance.
