  • Stacked discounts?

We have an event that we want to offer discounts to two groups of people. However, some people belong to both groups. We would like to have them be able to use both discount together. The registration form does not appear to allow more than one discount to be actively applied at any one time. The discounts we are using are fixed amounts (not a percentage), so the math for adding them is easy.

We don't really have a way to identify people who are in both groups and give them a separate code for a combined discount and we are attempting to avoid the need to call the office to make the request. For one group, we send them and email saying use XXX discount code for $20 off. For the other group, they attend a preliminary event, they are told of a code (ZZZ) that they must use within 48 hours to get a $40 . discount. We don't know who will go to the preliminary event until just before it and we don't want to communicate that if they are a member of this other group that there is an additional discount.

The easiest thing from our standpoint would be to allow multiple fixed amount discounts to be combined on one registration. Is this possible? If not, what do you suggest we do or what have others done?

If you look at the Discount Page, you'll see a message at the bottom of the screen:

Coupon codes may be added to the URL for discounts to be added automatically if conditions are met. To automatically add the coupon code to the registration, add &CC= to the end of the URL, followed by the coupon code(s), separated by semicolon

You would add the Discount Code in the link you use in your email, and this way you've identified the source of one of your groups.

The text suggests you may include multiple codes, but in this case only the maximum applicable discount applies (they are not cumulative).

I'm still playing with how this could be used in your situation, so I'll do some testing, but thought I would let you know this is the direction I'm exploring.
Please allow me another day to consider how you could work with this.

      BobD ,

You'd have to consider how this would impact your reporting or your inventory, but here is an approach you could use:
      1. Create your ticket level, let's call it "Workshop" (1), then another ticket level with the same name and price (2).
      2. Create separate registration sites for each, to differentiate, let's say:
        1. Registration Site Public
        2. Registration Site Email
      3. Add the Workshop (1) to Registration Site Public, and Workshop (2) to Registration Site Email
      4. Create level-based discounts
        1. Workshop (1) - Fixed Amount 1- Code:REF (for event referral)
        2. Workshop (2) - Fixed Amount 2 - Code: EMAIL
        3. Workshop (2) - Fixed Amount 1 + Fixed Amount 2 - Code: REF

Then make the link in your email end with &CC=EMAIL.

Voila! If your email users change the code to REF, the larger amount is applied.

I think that's the best approach available for what you're trying to do.
