Custom Question mapping from event form & mapping a blank value

This is really a two part question.

1) Is there a way to use the custom question map setting to designate a value if the answer is blank (or checkbox is unchecked)?
I tried what was posted here (https://forums.clickandpledge.com/fo...nswer-is-blank), but using "Checked" and "Not Checked" didn't work.

I have a question for opting in to email. By default it is checked, but someone can uncheck it. I do not want to make this a yes/no question (with two options). What I'm looking for is mapping based on the box being unchecked. I can imagine this coming up with a text response field being blank, too (ex: food restrictions? If blank, set field value to "no").

2) In this particular scenario, even when I write the exact text of the question answer, it is not mapping correctly. No idea what I'm doing wrong here, and I'm banging my head against the wall. Can you take a look?

Please note that in case of Event transactions, a blank value or unchecked box we unable to map it. Because from Events, if the box is unchecked the custom question answer value will come to the XML as blank and in C&P Settings >> Custom Mapping - ANSWER blank means any answer that may be blank OR XYZ.

Do you have any workarounds for this?

We can't be the only organization trying to do this sort of thing. There are cases where a single checkbox (opt in / opt out) is a much better option than having radio buttons.

Is it on the roadmap to include mapping that is "sku/answer does NOT include"? or potentially combinations of SKUs/answers (includes X but does not include Y).

OK Jodi,

I found a solution and tested that is easier and simpler. It relies on the fact that the Custom Question mappings are made after the Custom SKU mappings in the process of a transaction being added to Salesforce.

1. Set your SKU on your Levels to include OPTOUT under Additional Information > Levels (tab). (If anonymous event or Registrant Question, be sure to add to each Level)
2. Create your Custom Question.

3. Modify your C&P Settings > Custom Mapping with both a SKU rule that checks the Email Opt Out, and a Custom Question rule that unchecks when the custom question box is checked.

Note that because the checkboxes are treated as arrays, my answer value has a comma at the end. "Sign up for our mailings (opt in)," You can always confirm the actual value passed in any of the related Custom Question lists on the Contact, Registrant, or Attendee.





Although the SKU rule checks the Contact's Email Opt-out field, the Custom Question rule will override it and set Email Opt Out to 'false' (unchecked).

A similar solution will work with your Connect form post as well, I will create the appropriate screenshots and reply there.
