Updating / Modifying Country List

Hello!

Is there a way to update the Country List to different than default values? We just had a very unhappy member contact us regarding the fact that on the portal Taiwan is listed as Taiwan, Province of China and not simply Taiwan?

Is there a way that we can remove out the Province of China text as it is rather upsetting to some of our membership?

These names are not arbitrary and not something we have set up based on our political viewpoint. Please see:

The above is by United Nations and is the ISO standard which is the standard for our database.

Also the ISO listing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1

As you see all are referencing Taiwan with the UN recognized name for the country.

We cannot change names and create issues with gateways, etc. for mismatching.

I hope you see the challenge we are facing. We have been asked about this several times in the past and complaints from both sides. Our corporate policy is the ISO standard. If ISO says so we do it as that is the standard.

We live in a strange world that is getting weirder by the day.

Database have to talk and unfortunately we all cannot make up names. I wish we could. Personally I don't like a few names in our database also but options are not limited.. they are non-existent.

Sorry.. the safest route is United Nations in this case.
