Collect Sponsor Payment within Registration, but not require Attendee Names/Info

Hello,

We have a Registration Page where we are asking for Sponsors at certain levels.

The Registration form is currently providing the various levels and then prompts for the Attendees Names, before collecting Payment.

We would like to change this to be 1) select the Sponsor Level direct to 2) collecting Payment. (Reason: 6 months prior to an event, the sponsors don't know who is attending.)

How can this be accomplished and still link the sponsors to the event, and then attendees to the event? Is their documentation? Anyone else had to do this? Does a different type of form need to be created? (Which objects?)

We have seen that some of our clients in the above cases they use Named Event and use to register with dummy names like eg: Attendee 1, Attendee 2..etc. and later when they get the real names, they update it at Attendee detail page under that respective Event.

When Temporary Contacts are created for an Event, they are created for both Registrants and Attendees (and if a registrant IS an attendee- there is one temp contact for each). Do not match the Temporary Contact to a Salesforce Contact until you have the actual name of the guest. You may edit the Attendee name under Event Management > Event Name > Registrations>Click on Attendee Name and edit the contact, change the Name to actual name and save it. THEN process the Temporary Contact.
