  • Event Management- Mobile responsive event page and Opportunity Record Type mapping

    Hi,

Amanda is looking into the two following issues for our organization:

Responsive Event Registration page- we were unable to get my image and registration block to be responsive

Record Type mapping- I set up through C&P settings to map an event registration transaction to the new opportunity type "Event Registration." It is mapping the transaction to C&P online opportunity record type. Order #51167-1904241603185541111 for example.

    Login Access has been granted.

    OK, Kristen,

I had to play with it a bit, but I think we've got something that works pretty well.

The Site Template issues were primarily just working with the limits of the Salesforce HTML editor, and taking advantage of how web page tables work.

Width can be set in 2 ways: fixed width (px) or %. If you want the image to size down to smaller screens, you need to use percent. The problem with this is that if you set the image and table to 100%, the image gets so wide on big screens that the table rows in the form are obnoxiously long.

So I found a way to work around this. Your 'table frame' only has one column- for a responsive layout this is a good idea, because it avoids the issues of trying to squeeze multiple elements that really need a minimum width into the same row.
STEP 1: Made layout more responsive by changing widths to "100%"
    Table: width 100%
    (Image: width 100%)
    Registration Title
    Registration Form
    footer text

STEP 2: Added empty column to each side of the table. Cell width adjusts based on total width available, and constrains its content to that width. If the image in the table had a width:100%, it will size down as its cell sizes down.

Since there are now 3 columns, but the only one with content is the center one, so the middle column sizes to the space it's allowed, and then the side columns divide the remaining space equally.
    (Image: width 100%)
    Registration Title
    Registration Form
    footer text
STEP 3: Set a fixed width to a cell in the center column, forcing the entire column to max out at that width.
    (space) (Image: width 100%) (space)
    Registration Title (width:946px)
    Registration Form
    footer text

Now the middle column will "squish" to the size available on the screen, as long as its content can squish, but the middle column maxes out at 946 px. The remaining " "(space)" divides between the side columns. Neat Trick!

I think that should work well for you. You can also allow the Registration form to get a little smaller by hiding the QTY column if you don't need it (Event > Additional Info).

Now I'll take a look at the Record Type issue....

Noticing something about the Order Number you provided. The C&P Transaction record has 2 related Opportunities: one for each ticket on the order. But each Opportunity Amount is reflecting the Transaction Total, which means your NPSP rollups will count that amount twice- which you don't want.

The reason this is happening is because of your Event Settings:

These event settings are handy for adding additional information to the Opportunity that otherwise wouldn't get added from just the transaction- but the concept was to use this mapping for custom fields that you've added to the opportunity. For example, in my demo org, I've added a custom field called 'Attendee Contact (custom)' that links to the Attendee's Contact record. But you wouldn't want to set this to the Primary Contact because then the price of the ticket gets attributed to the attendee.

I suggest that you remove the Amount and Quantity values from your event.

to be continued regarding Record Type....

Regarding the Record Type, it is due to the Processbuilder you have and set to update with C&P Online as record type:

We have fixed it for the above order number but you need to review the above ProcessBuilder.

Thank you, this is very helpful! I will work on process builder to correct that issue. Back to the mobile responsive page, the registration page looks great on a small screen now, however when viewing on a small screen, and I click on "Add" to add a registration, there is a large blank space at the top before the fields appear. See attached image for reference.

Try changing the label under Additional Info > Levels to be a little shorter (Attendee, Guest, ....)- that might reduce the width so the fields will fill in at the top.

That didn't resolve the issue unfortunately.
