  • Any news on Events version 10?

After reading through dozens of other posts about the woes of mobile event registration, it's clear that C&P has been promising a "version 10.x" since 2015. But what's unclear is the progress or ETA.

We have 3 major events every year and 70% of our website visitors are on mobile devices. I've noticed that users are giving up and not registering as a result!

It is paramount that this issue is addressed. So much so, I'm pricing out other solutions, though I really do not want to switch.

Can you give any glimmer of hope that we can expect something soon?

I can't believe in 2018 there is NOT a mobile friendly version. C&P's utter lack of response in this area is incredibly disappointing. I will have to find another vendor for our events as mobile responsiveness is an absolute priority at this time with the way that our constituents (and the world) use the internet. C&P is completely foolish for ignoring this for so long.

      Good day jbradbury

Thank you for your kind words. Calling us foolish in the absence of full understanding of the Salesforce boundaries is a bit troubling.

We had 90% of release 10 in 2016 and was forced to completely abandon and start all over when Lightning came out. We have been working nonstop on the release and given Lightning required us to completely rewrite all of our code from ground up we were forced to start PaaS and Event as if they are release 1.0 - simply re-write the entire app.

We have been maintaining the code that is live while working on release 10. At this time we are working on finishing PaaS and restructuring Event as part of a comprehensive shopping cart concept. Our clients want to sell items as part of event and the design of arranged seating, invitation, waiting list, and mobile are best suited as part of a comprehensive shopping cart.

The release 10 is not something we will rush into releasing as it will include 5 packages and will be a Suite. The suite will include the payment app (currently called Payment as a Service but the name will change), Event, App 3, 4, and 5 - names & functionality of which we are not discussing yet.

We understand that clients may not wish to wait for it to be released. Our goal is to ensure a stable platform with 100% native integration and seamless cross operation. Currently our platform is stable and we truly do not want to release something that falls short of our goal.

CnP.Support I'm choosing to ignore the first two sentences and instead focus on the positive from your response. This is the first posting I've found that actually explained what was going on, instead of saying "It doesn't work and we don't know when it will", or ignoring postings completely and I appreciate that there is an explanation.
I've absolutely enjoyed and have highly recommended CnP to other NPOs launching with Salesforce because the donations end has been seamless, including on mobile. As we are getting ready to launch ticket sales for our largest fundraising event, imagine my surprise when mobile is not an option and I am left scrambling to pivot just days before sales launch. Unfortunately, the reality of the world is that mobile usage is greater than desktop usage and it is not possible for me to rely that my patrons will return to buy tickets at a later date when they get to a computer - if one is even accessible to them (I know many people that only use mobile devices.) I look forward to continuing to use CnP PaaS and coming back to use Events when release 10 is finalized. Thank you again for your candor and responsiveness.

I really appreciate the information and transparency! This is the most comprehensive explanation I've seen yet. I couldn't imagine the challenges in releasing a totally redesigned system.

If I could suggest communicating this more with your users, I believe it could go a long way. I, for one, felt frustrated that such a highly requested feature seemed to have no apparent progress or investment. Meanwhile, the introduction of PledgeTV, while I'm sure is a great fundraising tool, communicates to me that priorities are not focused on the needs of the users.

I really do love C&P! Thank you for all your hard work.

By the way, I would totally be interested in being a beta tester for 10 if and when it is ready.

Hi, I'm in the exact same boat you were then, and was hoping you might share what service you wound up using? I tried messaging you but your private messages are off.

[email protected] Unfortunately, nothing has changed in the past year, either with me or Click & Pledge. All other solutions are either too expensive or don't work well with Salesforce. Again, they keep promising a great new release, but I have yet to see anything.

cbarton Thanks for responding. That's so disappointing. Do you mind telling me which ones were too expensive?

I also do not want to move away from C&P Events, but not having a mobile optimized form might be our breaking point (we were working around that we couldn't edit attendee names without jumping through hoops). We have a call with Blackthorn tomorrow to see if it is viable.

If only you knew how much work has gone into this but the scope is a bit too big and coming together. We are going to give a demo of the status this summer. I know we have promised it but the entire system is being written from scratch. Event is completely changed and is now part of a shopping system with complete communication package (dispatch).

It is not that we are sitting around doing nothing. Development of all new platform is taking place at the same time the existing platform is being maintained. Just released another update to the existing platform.

We assure you the development is moving forward. Once you see the demo you see the scope of what is going on.

CnP.Support Please don't take offense to what I said. I completely believe CnP is hard at work, and as I said before, I can't imagine the coding/infrastructure challenges you are facing. I was just honestly answering a question someone posted on this thread. I'm anxious to see what you are planning to release.

                            Thank you cbarton

The release 10 has already been demo'd to our partners but not yet to clients. The new release 10 will be the following apps:
                            • Vault: The current PaaS will be vault - completely rewritten from ground up with a lot of new capabilities.
                            • Cart: A complete shopping cart - you may see the open source model followed at https://opencart.com
                            • Event: Acts as an add-on the Cart where events, classes, etc. all can be added as products to a cart. The UI may be set as a shopping cart (see OpenCart example) or as a single page event registration page.
                            • Dispatch: SMS and eNewsletter distribution with full integration with Twilio and SendGrid as the core 3rd party apps. We see no point in reinventing the wheel. The price offered by these vendors is quite reasonable and will save our causes a lot of money
                            • Analyst: A complete AI engine for analysis and modelling of patron behavior with integration with dispatch.
We truly do not want to release this suite (Click & Pay) before it is complete. Many of its components are finished but the suite is still not complete. We want to release this when it is all complete and understand that we may have unhappy clients - we truly understand it but cannot release before it is completely finished.

                            Hop you see the scope.
                            Regards,
