  • Free Payment Methods not an Option on checkout

I'm trying to enable a free payment option for our box office. I have gone to Default settings and included it as a payment method in both the box office section but it never shows up as a payment option on the checkout screen when I try to register someone through the box office. I initially tried add this option to an existing event and thought that it was not showing up because perhaps you couldn't add that once the event started or any registrations had come through. But, then I tried to create a new event with the Default Settings and still couldn't use the free code on the checkout.

    1) How do you enable / use the box office free payment method feature - (ie set it up and use it on checkout)?
    2) Can you add a box office free payment option once an event has already started and tickets have already started to sell? If so, how?

    Good day @[email protected]

That is an expected behavior. Please note that when the total amount is zero then the transaction will process with Free Payment and in this case, no payment option will be offered. In XML the name will appear as the Payment Name which you have mentioned in Default Settings >> Free Payment <Free Box Office> under Default Payment Methods For Box Office.

Hope that answers your question. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

No, this does not answer my questions and it does not make any sense. Please note in my example pictured above that the total mount is $130 and that there is no free payment option.

        Good day @[email protected]

Please note that Free payment means transaction total amount should be zero. In case of cart amount is $0 it won't show any other payment options. System internally process the transaction with custom payment type as Free and the given name will be passed as value for the Free Payment. The option you see to define the name of Free Payment under Default Settings >> Free Payment <Free Box Office> is to pass the value instead of "Free" and posted to receipt.

If you would like to process a transaction for FREE for the amount more than $0 then you will need to use Custom Payment Type as a payment method.

Hope that makes sense. Please let us know if you have more questions.
