  • Discounts and Fees Showing as Donations

    Hello! I hope you can help me with an issue we're having with discounts and fees. Every time a discount or additional fee is processed in Click & Pledge the transaction record type for that opportunity is "Donation" even though the sku for the campaign maps the original transaction as a registration, event, ect. How can we change this? Thanks.

    Do you have NPSP? Chances are NPSP is resetting the record type. Have you checked NPSP?

      Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, we do have the NPSP. I'm not sure what you mean by checking NPSP though. What do I need to check?

            An additional issue that I'm noticing with this is that when I manually change a discount from a Donation record type to a Discount record type, the amounts in the "Donation Information" section of Salesforce do not change. (For example, Total Gifts, Total Gifts Last N Days, Last Gift Amount, ect.) Those fields still include the discount amounts in the totals for that contact.

              LTalbot,

              NPSP gift rollup fields are not dynamic, and do the rollup calculations over the night. They will not reflect updated numbers until the following day. In order to exclude the Discount Amounts, you will need to remove the record type that Discounts are issued from the list of RecordTypes included in the rollups in NPSP settings.

              The record types are not being assigned the same sku as the items, which is why they are not mapping. I am currently looking into why this is so.

                Hi LTalbot.

                Discounts do not have SKUs because the Discount Opportunitiy created is an aggregate amount. e.g. You buy two tickets in events, and both tickets have a discount of $10. Each ticket has a different SKU. The Opportunity created for the discount will be for -($20). Because it includes both items- no SKU.

                It's an unusual situation for us- not many people utilize the separate Opportunity for the Discount. We don't have a perfect solution for you at this time. You can create a process or workflow that updates Opportunities created by C&P (have a C&P Order Number) and that have a negative value to be the Record type you prefer, or ask Andrew B if he can take care of that for you.

                Or you can remove 'creating discounts as separate Opportunities' in C&P Settings, and the Discount will be listed on the discount field of the ticket's Opportunity.
