We have reviewed the instance & the following summarizes our observation:
- You have enabled the Country and country / Territory Picklists
- Transactions are coming from 2 sources, namely the FaaS custom form on your website as well as the Event
- FaaS form posts the State as a preset names of states as posted by the form, in your case the full state name, e.g. Virginia
- Event form is set to accept states as an open field where the patron can add any text for their state. In the cases identified by you both of the registrants had entered the state acronym, e.g. VA or PA
The issue is that the Salesforce's country and state picklist ONLY allows for full state name to create a contact. Given the Event is posting the state as the text entered by the patron and both cases are entered as the acronym, Salesforce returns the error.
Solution:
Given that you wish to use the Salesforce Country and State picklist, we recommend that you also enable the Click & Pledge's Country and State picklist. This will offer you the flexibility to post the data either as 2 letters acronym or the full state name. Once enabled your form will appear as illustrated below:
As is illustrated above, the registrant is no longer in a position to type the state name but may only select from a set list. This will ensure the state name is entered exactly as expected and not as VA or VIR or possibly a typo, e.g. Pensylvania ..
We have enabled this for you but you may disable it if you don't wish to use it. To disable please follow the steps listed below:
- Go to C&P Settings
- Click on the "Countries & States" menu
- Click on the "Delete & Reset" button - this will delete the database of country & state
The only solution for resolving the existing contacts is to manually change the XML and change the state name to Virginia from VA and Pennsylvania from PA. Our team has made the changes for you so the Temps should work now.
Please try them and let us know if we can be of more help.
