  • Downloaded Reports not showing any information in Excel

Just found another more pressing problem. When I go to download any report for the Reports link on the main page, it downloads and opens Excel but there's no information- it's a blank page. If I download the file first and try to open with Excel, it shows me a blank worksheet. If I download the file and open as a Word doc, the information is there. Checked multiple events, all the same result. This is a PRIMARY function for me and needs to be resolved soon.

    Org ID: 00D1a000000ZcBb

    Thanks.

    Good day @michaelc,

Would you please share the Event name which you are referring to? We downloaded the reports from couple of your Events and found NO issues.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

It's ANY event. I even had a coworker try this from a different location and she had the same result. I just tried Portland July 30th. Total blank Excel screen.

        Good day @michaelc,

Strange! We don't have any issues with downloading any report from your Events. We have downloaded the Registrant & Attendee report from the Event which you are referring and found NO issues:

It seems to be issue with your PC or excel you have in your system. NO client has been reported above issue nor we have able replicate it in all of our test instances.

Please check and let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

        Thanks,

So it's me and my and my associate using a different OS and different version of Excel logging in from a different network 200 miles away? I'm using Office 2010 on Windows 8.1. I've not had this issue before. This is the first time I've downloaded reports since your latest upgrade. Can I share my screen with someone there, possibly?

                  Good day!

It is strange. I tested this with Office 2016 Excel and it shows what you show but when I tested this with an older version of Excel it works fine. Quite strange, given the output is not something written by us but a native feature of Salesforce.

I found a solution in the interim. I opened the file without any issues using Google Docs / Sheets. I find it a bit strange that the output is not working as it was working before. I wonder if Salesforce has made any changes. I have asked our team to test this and figure out what is going on. Sorry for the problem-- I was testing this on a test machine with an older version of Office without any issues but with Office 2016 I see the same result as you.

Do you think you can use Google Sheets for now? I will update this thread once we have determined why this has started happening.

Can you provide the procedure you used to open in Google sheets? I downloaded and then tried to upload using Google sheets, but that didn't work. Thanks.

Please open Google Sheets with a blank document and follow the steps:
                      1. Click on File > Open
                      2. Click on the Upload

& it opens without any issues.

I have also researched this and see a lot of posts in Microsoft sites regarding this issue. I will update this once we have an answer.

                      Strange..

                        Good day!

Interestingly (I guess it is expected) - when the file is open in Google Sheets you can save it as Excel and then it opens up without any issues in Excel.

                        Research continues..

                          @Good day michaelc

Found the problem... I am not sure this is your issue but it worked for me.

Earlier this week Microsoft release the Patch Tuesday and office update. In my instance, having the same issue as reported by you, the computer was updated to the latest Office Patch. I believe the patch had corrupted the instance.

In many forums the issue has been reported and the solution is a complete repair of office.
                          • Open the Control Panel
                          • Right click on office and choose Change

                          • Select Online Repair -- I tried Quick Repair first but it did not work. Using the "Online Repair" worked.
                          • Once completed try to open the file

I did this and it works now. The file opens without any issues.

Strange indeed. it is not a Salesforce issue but a corrupted file association with Office.

Please try it and let us know if this works.

I tried doing as you suggested but I don't get an online repair option. (see image) The regular repair option didn't work. I'm running Windows 8.1.

                              Good day!

The image you uploaded is a PNG. May I ask that you post a JPG file. This forum shows PNG files as thumbnail and not easy to see.

Did you go to the Control Panel > Programs & Features > right click on the Office application?
