  • Levels' campaign name and/or sku not connecting with Campaign in SF

Still testing levels. I had been going along entering test data into the C&P registration page and that was connecting to SF Campaign, no problem. Also with Opportunity, with Temp Contact etc. I cleaned out test data to try some new custom fields with the Campaign page (today) and although the temp contact, and Opportunity work fine, no attendees connect to Campaign. The Opportunity has the campaign name, and clicking on it takes me to the campaign, but the Campaign doesn't show any registrations. I can't figure if this is a C&P problem or a SF problem, so I'll post it both here and in Power of Us and monitor both. Permission granted and SF# is 00D36000000Hnko THX!

    Good day @briegull,

In reviewing your instance we have noticed that the information is not set as you expect the end result to be. Please note:
    • Event Campaign: The registrant (payer) will become a member of the Event campaign as he/she is the one that is making the payment but not necessarily attending.
    • Level Campaign: The attendee for the LEVEL will become a member of the specific campaign as set in the level. Each level may be assigned a different campaign and the attendees for that level will become member of that campaign.
In your instance we see the following:

Name:	Event-Campaign.jpg
Views:	23
Size:	64.2 KB
ID:	23864

As shown above the EVENT campaign is NULL and as such the registrant will NOT become the member of any campaign.

    hope that answers your question.

Please let us know if we can be of more assistance.

The problem with that is that unless the Event is set as anonymous you have that constant recurring need to repeat the fill in of data, which is NOT acceptable when people are registering for several courses (and paying a registration fee) all at the same time. We do not need to allow for companies to pay for attendees (the reason for Registrations, I believe) (We were hoping to get the Shopp implementation up and working but it seems not to have happened yet). I have an event, Fall 2016, with several levels. I have now attached Fall 2016 to a Campaign by that name, as well as the levels below it, attached to different campaigns. I have just put in some more test registrations. They show up in Opportunities as being attached to campaigns but not in Campaigns as members. Now what? Is it required that the Event NOT be anonymous for levels to be linked to campaigns?

          Good day!

It is getting a bit confusing as this conversation is being carried over in here and in the HUB. As such it appears that we have ignored this post whereas the conversation is being carried over in the HUB.

          The post: https://powerofus.force.com/_ui/core...D58000002gebFS

For anonymous event, at this time, we do not add the REGISTRANT as the campaign member of a level. Please consider this case-- anonymous registration means that someone buys 10 tickets for a single level and 5 tickets for another level. So now we have 1 person registering for 2 levels and having purchased 10 tickets in one and one for 5.

Given the above scenario adding the registrant as a campaign member for the level is a bit meaningless since one cannot add a contact as a member to a campaign more than once. In this scenario one person is added to a level once, even though the registrant has purchased 10 tickets. The ideas do not match.

We understand your scenario and as suggested in the HUB it is something we are currently working to release in 2 weeks as part of the next update. Given your situation and use case we decided to delay the release and address your need in this update. As stated before the reason for not having it is well justified and that is why we do not have it. Given your use case we will add it.

The event report is the only way you can get details of registrations at this time. Campaign report, for anonymous registration will not work for individual levels.

Please also make sure to stay with one source of communication with us. Mixing the forum and HUB confuses us as we do not know who is answering what and where. Thank you.

We will notify you when the release is ready and perhaps you can install it while in beta.

          Thank you again.

I looked at my instance with Kami at length on Monday afternoon. I don't CARE about registrants. All I want is for level attendees to show up as members in SALESFORCE campaigns when a level has a campaign that corresponds with a campaign in Salesforce. This DID work, Kami says it SHOULD work, the data goes into Opportunities in SF but the attendees don't show up as Members of SF Campaigns. Because I DID have it working, then it somehow stopped, I wasn't sure if this was a Salesforce problem or a C&P problem, hence the double posting which I too hate.

Anonymous registrations is the only way to get around that annoying and confusing re-draw of the popup registration for attendees when they sign up for more than one class. In my instance people are registering THEMSELVES for classes. I don't CARE about the campaign of the Event. Only the Levels.

I've been dealing with making C&P work with course registration for months because I was assured it could be done but I admit I'm getting frustrated.

              Good day!

After office hour we researched this and for anonymous event it is not going to work. That is why it is not becoming a campaign member.

For anonymous event the registrant is not designed to become a campaign member. During office hour, we are aware, this was discussed and after review of the use case with developers we realized why it is not.

Registrant cannot be added as a campaign member for the level at this time. The only way you know that they have registered is through the Reports in the event. The report in event includes all the information you need. Campaign report will not work for anonymous event.

This issue has been researched thoroughly and Kamran is aware of this as this is a feature request he has pushed through for the next update to address your needs.

              Sorry about the inconvenience.

PLEASE pay attention to what I said. I DO NOT WANT REGISTRANTS AT ALL!! I don't want them becoming campaign members at all. I don't mind HAVING them, but they are not my focus. I WANT **LEVEL** ATTENDEES TO HAVE THEIR CAMPAIGN CONNECTED TO THE SALESFORCE CAMPAIGN. That's all. And it DID work. It works for Opportunities, which sees the level of attendees. I have to produce several reports IN SALESFORCE about the attendees (phone, email, etc) and their "campaigns" which correspond to the course registrations they make through C&P Event/Level registration.

                  Good day!

                  This is Kamran responding.

                  We understand your question.

Let's go through this step by step to make sure we are not being confused.

Campaigns: When a campaign exists in Salesforce there are 2 actions that can take place:
                  1. Opportunity > when an opportunity is being created it will be assigned to the campaign.
                  2. Contact > The contact assigned to the opportunity will become the campaign member of the campaign.
If you agree with the above then:
                  1. Opportunity > the event is currently assigning the campaign created for the registration, 1 opportunity per level registration. This is behaving correctly and in your instance it works as designed.
                  2. Contact > there is no contact being assigned to the level. The only contact for the event is the registrant. The registrant is the person that makes the payment and is the only contact we have for the entire registration.
In the current design we assign the registrant to the EVENT campaign as the registrant is the person making payment for the entire registration so the person becomes the member of the EVENT campaign. The registrant is not being added as a campaign member for the LEVEL.

In your case NO contacts are being assigned to the level campaign and as stated this is by design.

The only 2 options available are the above. Campaign is only related to the opportunity and contact. Contact is the registrant and the opportunity is per level.

Are we not understanding the case correctly?

So C&P creates the opportunity, which inherits the campaign from the level and which gets assigned to a contact when I process the Temporary Contact. That happens. The problem is then that the Contact is NOT getting assigned to the campaign. THIS:
                    1. Contact > The contact assigned to the opportunity will become the campaign member of the campaign.
IS NOT HAPPENING. It isn't even happening if I make a registration to an EVENT (summer excursion). The OPPORTUNITY is assigned to the SF Campaign, but the CONTACT is not becoming a member. SO it's a SF problem, not a C&P problem, am I right?

Look at the SF Campaign screen for Summer Excursion. There are a bunch of people there that I added without opportunities, but there are also two opportunities, one being for Maxwell Durst who is currently outside stalking the birds at the feeder. I am a "member" because I'm a board member and that's the group I added to the Campaign, but Max is NOT a board member, NOR IS HE ADDED AS A MEMBER OF THE CAMPAIGN. Just the opportunity. So now I have to figure out how to trigger adding contacts to campaigns when an opportunity is created.

                        Good day!

                        & you stated: "
                        1. Contact > The contact assigned to the opportunity will become the campaign member of the campaign.
YES exactly. We know this. We have been saying this since the start of this thread.

For NAMED events there is an attendee (Contact) so that contact is assigned to the LEVEL as a member for the campaign.

For ANONYMOUS events there are no attendees - we only have the registrant. There is ONLY one person in the transaction regardless of how many tickets are assigned.

There are NO contacts to use.. we know this .. we have been saying this since the start.

For ANONYMOUS events (which is your case) we are now working on adding the REGISTRANT as a member of the LEVEL campaign. So if the registrant purchases 10 tickets the registrant becomes a member of the campaign once.

So as stated before your case is a special case that, in practice, is a bit outside the design of the program. We are going to change the manual and state that, even though it may not seem correct, we are adding the REGISTRANT as the campaign member for each purchased level regardless of the number of tickets purchased.

                        Hope this helps.

                          Good DAY!!

I have figured out how to get what I want - the Campaigns are in the Opportunity, along with all the data I need for the reports I need to pull, I think (class lists, counts of enrollments) - so basically I don't need to use C&P connections to SF campaigns at all!!!

I think part of the problem is that you are referring to "campaign" in C&P and I am referring to "campaign" in SF. I think I can manage now.. and the SHOPP connection is working too!! WHEW!!
