  • Payments for Event Registrations are showing up in Salesforce as Donations

    Hello.
All of the Event Registration Payments that have been processed for my organization through C&P Event Management are showing up in Salesforce as donations. Why is this occurring and what is the best way to correct the existing records?

    Good day!

When you say donations are you referring to the "Donations" tab as defined by NPSP? The donation tab is the "Opportunity" tab renamed by the NPSP.

All event levels (purchases) create opportunities as part of the transaction. The opportunities are standard Salesforce process and if you go to the C&P Transactions you will see the opportunities are all listed as part of the Transaction.

    Hope that answers your question.

For instance: In the attached screenshot shows $300 total gifts under "donation information". This is not a donation or contribution, rather it is a registration payment for an event that they attended (actually shows as two opportunities - $200 for the father's registration and $100 for his son). Why does this show as a donation when it is a payment? I need to track contributions separately from event registrations.

        Good day!

As stated before NPSP is adding the opportunity totals to the totals. We are creating opportunity for each event registration.

You may add the event registration related list to the layout and you will see that we are creating them exactly as expected. The issue is setting NPSP not to add the event to its donation totals. I suggest you review the NPSP setting and see why all opportunities are being included.

Again please note that the "Donation" related list is just opportunity renamed. Perhaps this is related to the record type. Do you know what parameter NPSP is using for its identification of an opportunity as donation?
