  • Event opportunities not mapping correctly

I have a number of Custom Answers mapped from an active event. Using SKU from each registration level, I mapped a number of opportunity fields via C&P Settings. Some of those fields map correctly and some do not.

You have access, if you'd like to take a look at my setup. Org ID: 00Dd0000000i8lD

    Thanks,
    Radha

    Good day Radha,

We reviewed your SKU's and your maps. Here is what you have:

    Standard Registration Summit2014TicketStandard
    Discounted Registration Summit2014TicketDiscounted
    Low income Registration Summit2014TicketLowIncome
Early Bird College Group Registration Summit2014TicketCollegeGroup
    Group Member Registration Summit2014TicketGroup
    Additional Donation Summit2014AdditionalDonation
and in the mapping you have the following:

When we perform the map we start form the top and do each map one after another. As you can see from the above you have conditions that are based on Starts With Summit2014Ticket and later you have Summer2014TicketStandard - so naturally the last matched criterion will win and will be mapped.

I just want to make sure what you are seeing as erratic behavior is not based on the above observation.

Is this the problem you are facing?

      Interesting.

So what I understand from your post is ... the order of the mappings is important. If I reorder the list, the mapping may behave the way I intend.

Do you have a suggestion as to the optimal order of these conditions?

        Radha,

There is no optimal or sub-optimal order. Think of this that all conditions are met from top to bottom. If the first one matches it will take that answer and if the last one matches again the answer will write over the first answer. You simply need to work your logic and make sure it is what you want. Top to bottom and all are done step by step.

Does this seem more logical that what I had before?

            Good day Radha,

Please upload the image is JPG - when in PNG the page cannot be enlarged and as it is now it is almost impossible to read the content.

Also note that all entries are logical - that is why in programming we have what is called "logical errors" since the program is doing exactly as what we have asked it to and it is our logic that is wrong.

Once we have a bigger image we can review and figure out if what you have is possibly what you want.

                Good day!

Sorry but it is hard for me to see the SKU's - you have long text that is being truncated and I can't see the entire string.

It seems like you have a lot of SKU's that start with Summit2014T and based on what I see the bottom conditions have the potential to write over the top constraint. If you simply follow the logic you will see how it happens.

                SKU Starts With -- > Summit2014T
                SKU Is --> Summit2014T***

Naturally the top condition is met with the second condition and as a result the second condition writes over the first match.

Hope that makes sense. It seems like you are the right track but since I can't see the full text it is hard for me to give you the complete picture.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Could you please take a look at the settings within my instance of SF? I've already given you access.

                    Hi Radha,

The following is what you have:

The above is the data you have in the custom question mapping.

I like what you have done and I can't see how one can write over a previous setting except when it is a recurring transaction. Considering no matter what the condition is if it is a recurring the Designation will be set to "Individual Unrestricted 4015" and the Donation Document will be set to "Recurring".

                    It looks great.. great job!
