  • Secure Event Payments?

We use iframe to embed event registrations in our website. Consequently, when filling out the Billing Information what our customers see is our web page address for the event: http://www.fiberartsalliance.org/home/march. We have had a couple of people choose to not pay through our system because our web address is http rather than https and they question whether or not their payment information will be secure. Short of switching to a secure host (which we will do but it will take a while) what is the best way to handle this issue?

    Good day!

We always recommend to our clients to set up an SSL. It is quite inexpensive and may be set up for less than $20/month - see http://servertastic.com

I suggest that you set up the page & link to the page to open separately. The link on Salesforce is secure and shows as https:// - that is the only other alternative you have.

Thanks for your quick reply. We will move getting a secure site to the top of the wish list and, in the meantime, will link to future events rather than imbed them.

With the new Events module, are there any plans to keep the registration page in the i-frame, and link-out to the secure salesforce page ONLY for the credit card processing section ?

Similar to how Paypal does it.

That would allow clients to get all the benefits of the new Designer tool, and embed on a Webpage, yet be secure for the checkout process only.

          Good day!

We had a similar design a while back and it created a lot of problems with our clients. People simply have different expectations from PayPal than they have from us. They want all their information in one place and they want all operation to be totally seamless. When dealing with PayPal everyone expects to go to PayPal and login and do whatever needs to be done on PayPal. With us they want the form to be continuous and all happen together.

The event system may easily be designed to look just like your website. It was designed with that in mind. Using the designer you may set up the event page to look just like your site and simply place our engine (registration form) somewhere in the page. It is the cleanest and most efficient way to handle this.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
