Uploading donations from PayPal into C&P

Hello,

I just finished connecting our new C&P account to Salesforce (non-profit edition), and was able to verify that all donations processed through C&P appear in Salesforce.

Prior to switching to C&P, however, we used PayPal to collect our donations. We also received checks from a number of people.

We have all of the information in an Excel spreadsheet, so I was wondering how I'd go about importing this information into C&P. Note that those donations have already been processed, as they're several months old. We just want to have them in C&P so that all of the data -- old and new -- are in one place.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Great to hear the transition is complete.

In release 7.0, due out on February 18, we have an import functionality that is designed for importing transactions from the Click & Pledge's portal system. It definitely could be used for importing other transactions as long as the column headers are the same.

I am interested in knowing the column header data that you have. Perhaps we can run a test with dummy data and make sure the importer works with data such as yours.

What are the column information that you have when you export from PayPal?

• Date
• First Name
• Last name
• Address (line 1)
• Address (line 2)
• Town/City
• State
• Country
• Email Address
• Amount

We tested the NEW upcoming importer of version 7 and it will work with the PayPal historical data csv export file.

The PayPal history report has a lot more columns than the one you sent. We will have an update as we get closer to the release.

One final question: every once in a while, we receive a corporate donation which does not have a specific individual attached to it, e.g. we received $50,000 from the Blackstone Foundation. Is there any way to record these sort of donations in C&P? The only obvious way I can think of is to use the name of the company in name of the donor, but then a contact gets created in Salesforce who is not really a contact...it's a company. Any suggested workarounds?

The problem is the donation needs to be associated to an ACCOUNT but an ACCOUNT can never make a donation. A Contact is the one that makes the donation on behalf of the company and is considered the primary contact.

We are working on a solution for this where the company makes the contribution but at this time the option is not available.

I will discuss with our developers to see if we can suggest a work around.

Does this functionality still exist? I just heard back from a support ticket that importing data outside of CP (like paypal) is no longer supported...

We don't support it but we have clients that have used the importer and changed the values using our format and imported PP information into the app. Currently we don't support it.
