  • Updating Campaigns into Salesforce from C&P

I set up a Campaign in Salesforce called 2012 Annual Fund. I also created the same name in Campaigns in Click & Pledge. When I make a test donation, it shows up in Salesforce as 2012 Annual Fund in the donor's Campaign History and also as the Donation Name under Donations. However, in the Campaign itself, there is no record of any donations, nor does the Contact's status change to "Responded" (from Sent). Is there a way to get the donation to automatically post to the actual campaign within Salesforce and add the total to the campaign statistics? Since we're expecting a lot of donors to respond to this campaign, and we'd like to track it within the Salesforce Campaign screen, I don't want to have to manually enter that information into the Campaign.

    Please help!

    Shari,

If the Campaign Name in Click & Pledge matches EXACTLY with your campaign name in Salesforce the transaction / opportunity should be automatically assigned to the campaign.

Are you sure the name matches exactly?

To make sure the names posting are the same please go to C&P Data tab and review the XML for the campaign node. Check to see if the name posted is the same.

Please note that Salesforce has problem with some special characters and as a result we remove them when we post them to Salesforce, e.g. &. The best way to make sure the names is the same is to inspect the C&P Data XML data posted.

Check it & let us know.

I deleted all my test donations, so now when I go to the XML there's nothing there. My test donations did post to the correct campaign, but the donation name was not the standard Salesforce donation name (Last Name, First Name- Type of Donation dd/mm/yy). Instead the donation name was the campaign name. That's confusing when I want to do reports.

Also, the test donation did not update the status of the campaign member as "Responded". Is there a way to do this?

        Shari,

I am not sure what you mean by "Standard" donation name. There is no such thing as standard since the Opportunity name will be whatever you pass to that field. Click & Pledge's application gives you the ultimate flexibility in naming the opportunity anything you want.

        See the image below:

        Salesforce Opportunity Name Customization

You may easily name your opportunity based on Donation name's SKU or sipmly select ANY SKU for all donations to be named the way you want them to. You may define any naming convention you want and add as many as want. For example we have clients that name their Store items a certain way, their recurring donations a different way and have a different convention for various funds.

The following options are available for SKU conditions:

Please test it and let me know if this answers your question.

          Opportunity Name

Okay, I finally figured out how to get the opportunity name to be what I want, but I made it become this: Shari Test-BH Childrens Home2012-11-26. When I try to change it so it shows the SKU I created (BHCH) and then (Online Donation) for text, instead of the Campaign name (BH Childrens Home), when I try to change the conditions, it won't let me and reverts back to the former. When I click "Update Settings" it just gives me the reminder about Allowed Characters. I'm not putting anything but text and dashes in these text fields. I tried to put in the {20%} for a space, but it doesn't seem to allow me to do that either.

But it is finally logging to each particular campaign and also updating the campaign statistics, so that's wonderful!

            Shari,

I am glad to see you are moving in the right direction.

I am a bit confused about the issue you are having. Where is the campaign set? Remember the campaign should be in the payment pages and that text is what will be used.

Please provide images / example / checkout page ID so we can review the setting and figure out what the issue may be, if there are any issues!?

Opportunity Name - SF Donation Name

The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to change what the Donation name will be. I went into C&P Settings, then the tab for Object Settings where I can tell it what to name the Opportunity (Donation). I want it to be named "Donor Name - Online Donation - Date". I tried numerous times to change the Condition formatting to no avail. Once I created it, it doesn't want to change. I created it to read "DonorName-CampaignNameDate". It's all strung together with no spaces. So I tried to add spaces, I changed CampaignName to the text Online Donation, and I added a space, hyphen, space between that and the date. C&P has this note:
              * Allowed Characters Alphanumeric , . # - ' _ / + ( ) { } [ ] use {%20} for blank space
I assumed this meant I could use {%20} to create a space, but then it would pop up a message that said the same thing as above about what the allowed characters are. I'd like to know how to create that. That's the first problem.

The other problem is that if I change it and C&P accepts the changes, and someone makes a donation, it names the donation (opportunity) the way I first set it up to name it. But I don't want that. I even tried adding another, but maybe because my parameters below it (when Authorized Transactions are closed/won) are the same. I even tried to delete the first way I set it up, to no avail.

I know it's a small thing, but I really would like to change the naming. Maybe instead of Online Donation, I might name it after my Campaign SKU. Even that didn't seem to work.

I tried to upload a screen shot, but the image is too small. For some reason it takes me a long time to create an acceptable file to upload as an image in this post. That's a different problem.
Never mind. Maybe I had not updated settings (top button) but I think I did. Anyway, I set up all four of my campaigns with different SKU numbers and spaces between Donor, SKU, and Date. Now it's working! Still not sure what I did wrong the first time.

                Shari,

While I am always confused I think I am a bit more confused now than ordinary

Your email started as an issue but it appears that it ended with no issues. Is it working now?

Are you finding a behavior that is not intuitive? Let me know so we can research it.
