  • Consolidating Fees

    Hello,
I'm working with a new client with the Salesforce integration in place and I have two urgent questions:
    1. The client does not want the donation and additional fee to show up in Salesforce as two separate opportunities/donations. They want one donation (with the fee included). Where do I make this setting change?
    2. I also see some transactions coming over as Processing Fee and others as Additional Fee. I see that reflected in the C&P Transaction record as well. What is the difference?

The Org Id is 00D5w000007MisJ and login access has been granted.
    Thanks!

    Good day @OneTenthConsulting

    1. Please note that the "Additional Fee" coming in Salesforce is not an optional opportunity but a separate line item resulting in a separate opportunity, by design. Given it has its own SKU it allows you to map to any of your Campaigns in Salesforce.

However, if you want a single opportunity then you need to enable Opportunity Product (which is not recommended) When Opportunity > Product is enabled a change occurs in the way we handle posted items.

When you use Opportunity alone, each item in the basket will become each own opportunity. When you use Opportunity > Product a single opportunity will be created and all items become Products under that single opportunity.

In v10 which is hopefully due out in Q1 of the next year, we have the option to combine the opportunity/product creation. Based on the conditions you can create the Opportunity or Opportunity Products.

    2. We reivwed the account#61418 and the Campaign as well as the most recent transactions and it looks like you have recently changed the Additional Fee name to "Payment Processing Fee" which is why you see Additional Fee as Payment Processing Fee on the transaction page.

Thanks for the clarification on #2, I'm still confused by your answer for Home If the donation is for $50 and the additional fee is $2.25 .I want one opportunity for $52.25. That's it. That is technically what the donor donated so I'm surprised it works any other way, or at least does not give you an option.
      1. Does enabling Opportunity Products solve this?
      2. Can you elaborate on why it is not recommended?
      3. Will v10 allow me to achieve my desired results - If the donation is for $50 and the additional fee is $2.25 .I want one opportunity for $52.25

        Good day @OneTenthConsulting

Since Additional Fee of $2.25 coming from CONNECT is a line item there is no way to create one opportunity of $52.25 because both are line items. When you use Opportunity > Product a single opportunity will be created and all line items become Products under that single opportunity.

Enabling Opportunity Products would change the way that PaaS works by default. This is not a common configuration and require price book. Essentially this "shifts" the regular hierarchy down:

        Default Hierarchy:
C&P Transaction - represents entire transaction
related Opportunities - represent the line items purchased in the transaction

If you are using Opportunity Products:
C&P Transaction - represents entire transaction
related Opportunity (only 1) - also represents the entire transaction
related Opportunity Products - represent the line items purchased in the transaction.

In v10 we have the option to use the Combined option, which means, you can select the conditions example: ItemSKU, Form SKU, Campaign SKU..etc. and based on that either you can create an Opportunities for line items or line items as Products under one opportunity.
