Contact matching prioritization when multiple matches are found

Hi, I have a question about how C&P matching prioritizes multiple matches:

When matching to Contacts, if multiple matches are found, including using Aliases (i.e. Contact A has field matches on First Name, Last Name and Email and Contact B has C&P Alias matches), does the matching prioritize the field matches and select Contact A or would it go with whichever information was most recent (Alias Created Date vs. Contact Last Modified date, etc...)?

It will prioritize based on the Contact's Last Modified Date and Time.

Thank you! And just to clarify, does the matching give preference to the Contact record that has the most recent Last Modified Date (i.e. would it choose the Contact who was last modified on November 23, 2022 over a Contact who was last modified on November 20, 2022)?

Yes, in the above case, it will give preference to the contact last modified on November 23, 2022.

Hi, we have an order that came in recently which contained Contact information that matched both a Contact record and an Alias. The Alias has a Last Modified date of 11/13/2021 and the Contact would have had a Last Modified Date of as recent as 1/24/2022 on the day the transaction was received (12/5/2022). Is there some other logic that may have caused the C&P Contact Matching to choose an Alias that had a Last Modified Date that is older than a Contact's Last Modified Date?

Would you please let us know under which contact you are expecting to create an Alias record for order#61065-2211040829383661737?

We noticed that Middy T*** and Own C*** are the main Contacts but in the Owen C*** contact, Middy T*** is also an Alias record. Have added the Middy T*** as Alias in Owen C**** contact manually?

PS:

We also noticed that the XML has the first name, last name, and Email of the "Middy T****" contact but the transaction details page has "Owen C**** contact. Have you updated the Contact details on the transaction details page?
