  • Primary Campaign Source Mapping Not Working

    Hi, we have a few C&P Orders that do not seem to have the Primary Campaign Source on their associated Opportunities in Salesforce correctly assigned. I have two examples of this behavior:

    Order 35074-221113110203520
    • Received via the "WCV Email - Non Donor" Connect campaign, which has a Campaign SKU of "2022 WCV Email - Nondonor"​
    • C&P Settings in Salesforce map that SKU to the "2022 WCV FUND Email 1 Nondonor Election Week" campaign in Salesforce, so the Primary Campaign Source on the resulting Opportunity should be that campaign, but instead it is blank
    • The Transaction Campaign on that order is "2020 WCV Fund SMD 1 Nondonor" and not "2022 WCV Email - Nondonor"
    Order 35074-221113110142236
    • Received via the "WCV Email - Renewal"​ Connect campaign, which has a Campaign SKU of "2022 WCV Email: Renewal"
    • C&P Settings in Salesforce map that SKU to the "2022 WCV FUND Email 1 Renewal Election Week" campaign in Salesforce, so the Primary Campaign Source on the resulting Opportunity should be that campaign, but instead it is blank
    • The Transaction Campaign on that order is "2020 WCV Fund SMD 1 Renewal" and not "2022 WCV FUND Email 1 Renewal Election Week"
    My questions are:
    • Why are the Mappings in C&P settings not resulting in the correct Primary Campaign Sources on the associated Opportunities
    • Why are these Transactions being assigned Transaction Campaigns that are different from what is indicated in the Connect campaign's Campaign SKU?

      We reviewed the above order numbers and found that those are recurring transactions.
      • The Transaction Campaign on that order is "2020 WCV Fund SMD 1 Nondonor" and not "2022 WCV Email - Nondonor"
      ​The recurring has been initiated on 7/13/2020 in which the Transaction Campaign is: 2020 WCV Fund SMD 1 Nondonor and we are posting the same Transaction Campaign as per the previous recurring installments.

      If you want to change the Transaction Campaign to "2022 WCV Email - Nondonor"​ you need to use Transaction Campaign Map settings:

      • C&P Settings in Salesforce map that SKU to the "2022 WCV FUND Email 1 Nondonor Election Week" campaign in Salesforce, so the Primary Campaign Source on the resulting Opportunity should be that campaign, but instead it is blank
      ​If you notice all of your Primary Campaign Source map conditions are having "Is" conditions and it didn't satisfy the condition of the CONNECT Campaign SKU because CONNECT Campaign SKU is blank in the above order number which is why the Primary Campaign Source is blank.

      In your case, you have a Campaign SKU in CONNECT but it is passing blank SKU because those recurring are initiated in 2020 when there was no Campaign SKU field in CONNECT. ​In order to get the desired Primary Campaign Source, you will need to update Campaign SKU on the Transaction Details page > Manage Recurring > Edit/Update > Campaign SKU for the most recent recurring installment i.e. 35074-221113110203520 and then it will be applied for all the upcoming installments.

      ​Once you update the Campaign SKU, moving forward all of the upcoming installments will pass new Campaign SKU value, and accordingly it will assign the Primary Campaign Source. If you want to get the new Campaign SKU for the above order number i.e. 35074-221113110203520 then please update the Campaign SKU on the particular transaction details page and click on Post to Salesforce.

        Thank you for that explanation! And just to confirm, do we need to remove the value in the Transaction Campaign field in order for the Campaign SKU value to be applied appropriately? Or is adding the Campaign SKU to the most recent transaction [SCREENCAST][/SCREENCAST]all we need to do to ensure the SKU mapping will be correctly applied?

          Good day @Perc-BRC

          For the recurring, all you need to do is to edit and update the Campaign SKU in the most recent recurring order number and map it in Salesforce C&P Settings > Campaign > C&P Transaction Campaign Map so that it will map accordingly. Since you already have the Primary Campaign Source map with the Campaign SKU, the below Map will apply to the Primary Campaign Source:
