  • Auto process C&P Temporary Contacts

    Hello!
We do not have the Auto process C&P Temporary Contacts setting selected under C&P Settings > Maintenance, but it appears the process is occurring in the background anyway. We can see Apex Jobs completed and aborted every 5 minutes for the apex class Maintenance_TemporaryContact. Can you please explain why these jobs are running every 5 minutes when we don't have the setting selected? And can you please make it stop?
I have granted login access and our Salesforce org ID is 00D50000000cBTw. Let me know if you need further information! Thank you.

    Good day @[email protected]

It is expected behavior. It looks like you have processed the temp contact and selected the potential matches which resulted to create a scheduled job that runs every 5 minutes to see if there are any potential matches that exist.

If you don't want it, please delete the scheduled job for PaaS_Maintenance_TemporaryContact:

Hi there! I'm a bit confused by your response. It seems a new job would be created for every temporary contact that is processed, and it doesn't make sense that the job would be scheduled after the temporary contact is successfullly processed. At any rate, can you please answer What functionality would we lose if we deleted the scheduled job?

        Hi [email protected] ,

You wouldn't lose functionality. I have gone to Setup > Scheduled Jobs, and deleted the PaaS_Maintenance_TemporaryContact job for you. I'm not sure why this was not removed when you removed "Auto process temporary Contacts" from C&P Settings > Maintenance, but we will test that internally to ensure it is not an ongoing issue.

Hi there! We are still seeing this PaaS_Maintenance_TemporaryContact job come back. Can you explain why this is happening and tell us what to do to keep the job from continuing to appear? Is there more you are determining internally? Is this a bug in your functionality? I have granted login access. Thank you!

            Hi [email protected] ,

This was a mistake on my part in my last response. The PaaS_Maintenance_TemporaryContact job is not related to the "Auto-process Temporary Contacts" checkbox seen in C&P Settings > Maintenance.

The scheduled job that is related to "Auto-process Temporary Contacts" is called PaaS_Reprocess_Temporary_Contact. I accidently confused the two.

The PaaS_Maintenance_TemporaryContact job runs every 5 minutes to review if their are additional "Potential Matches" in Temporary Contacts, so it is related to this feature:

This recurring job does not affect your API Call limits; it just serves to make sure that if the same person exists as multiple Temporary Contacts, you can opt to process them all at once rather than separately.

              Hi Amanda,
Thanks for this information and correction regarding the "Auto-process Temporary Contacts" checkbox. That makes sense! In terms of the PaaS_Maintenance_TemporaryContact job, are you saying we can expect that to run pretty much all the time? We are processing temp contacts every day and it seems that job is created again every time temp contacts are processed. Is that correct? Thank you!
