  • Edit a Credit Card associated with a Recurring Transaction

How would you edit/update the details of a credit card (say change exp. date) that is associated with a recurring transaction?

Would an administrator receive any notice that a credit card associated with a recurring transaction is about to expire so they can contact the customer for an update?

    thanks,
    Calista

    Calista,

We notify the administrator of a card decline. We also create a CASE for that contact in Salesforce when a recurring declines.

At this time we don't have a feature that allows an end user to change the card number but the org may simply run a new transaction through the virtual terminal for that contact.

Are there any future plans to add this feature? It would be helpful to be able to change cards before the transaction is declined.

I notice that in the salesforce C&P recurring tab that you can edit the transactions but there is no way to edit/change the credit card. It would be really helpful to be able to do that

        Good day!

Yes- this will be part of the Release 9.0 due out in the 4th quarter. We are now finalizing release 8.0 scheduled for release in July.

More about release 9.0 when we are closer to release.

          Hello,

I noticed in this response that you indicated release 9.0 would enable the ability to update the credit card information of a recurring transaction. Has that happened? How would I go about doing that?

          Thanks,

So I'm assuming in order to update the credit card information for a recurring donor, I just need to create a new one and delete the old one?

                Good day!

I am not sure I would delete anything. Simply cancel the first recurring and start a new one using the Virtual Terminal.

See the following KB article on how to cancel a recurring: http://forums.clickandpledge.com/con...ng-Transaction

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Did the feature to update a credit card (because of decline/expiration date) get released? It would be extremely helpful if we could update credit card information within an existing recurring payment instead of cancelling and asking the donor to RE-enlist in recurring giving.

                        Good day!

                        Please see: http://forums.clickandpledge.com/con...urring-Payment

An email was sent out about this yesterday but it has been up for almost a month now.

This may be done in Connect and cannot be done in Salesforce. Updated transactions will affect the next recurring and will update the same Salesforce recurring family.

Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

I couldn't find where I could update the expiration date. Am I missing something or is that not possible?

Is it possible to update just the expiration date?

                              Good day!

No- you have to enter the new credit card number so it can be tokenized with all the new information. Simply edit the recurring and change the credit card number, cv2, and expiration date so all future recurring transactions use the new information.

We do not store credit card numbers and as such partial information cannot be updated.

I hope that answers the question.
