I deliberatly created a PaaS transaction (through a checkout page) using a different email address from the one I knew was in the salesforce contact record (first and last names are the same).
C&P created a new contact/account - as I would expect (since email address doesn't match), but when it created the contact roles for the opportunity related to this transaction, it created two - one for the OLD (not the same email address used in the transaction) - marked as Primary/Donor and one for the new contact (w/new email).
What's going on here? Is it because first/last names are the same? How is this supposed to work?
