  • url parameters to prefill fields within iframe donate form

    Good afternoon,
My client wants to give people a link in an email that goes to their donate page which is embedded via iframe, and they want to add a tracker value, which will vary by email. But if we simple append the link with ?trk=TESTCODE, then it won't make it to the tracker fieldin the embedded form. Please help me understand how I can properly append a URL so that the tracker field (or any field on the form like name, etc.) can be prefilled on the embedded form.

The closest to an answer I could find was this post but this doesn't seem to address how I would append a URL. This seems to indicate changing the code on the webpage. But I need to have the tracker value be dynamic, based on the URL.

Do I need to add javascript to the pages code that looks for url parameters and passes them to the code within the iframe? If so, can you tell me what javascript code to use?

    Thanks

    Good day @[email protected]

We have no idea which platform you are using for the forms. I see that you have posted in the "Salesforce Donor Management" channel and your referenced thread related to Connect forms.

Would you please let us know which platform you are using for the forms and also include the test URL of the form?

The C&P Account is 38625. We are using a Connect form. It is iframed in this webpage. We are trying to use a URL link in an email to fill in the tracker field using the parameter trk=TEST but since it's iframed that parameter doesn't make it to the form.

You would need to add the parameter to the iframe src on your website. If you use that same page for multiple campaigns, you'd have to find a way to add a variable in that code and then add code to the page that could populate it from the parent frame parameters.

But otherwise, I'm not sure you have a good option to try to track that the user came to that form using the email link.
