Strange CC Decline Reason Being Returned

We are receiving a ton of online donations and today we have been getting the following as a decline reason:

Transaction Result: Declined
Status Detail: "Gateway Invalid argument error"

This is not a usual decline reason, so I want to be sure this is not related to any issues on our end.

I created a decline report for you in CONNECT so you can easily review your declines. The transactions that have decline statuses of "Gateway Invalid argument" all specify in the report that they were declined for an invalid amount (because the amount was $0.00) or invalid expiration date.

I'll send you the report with today's declines thus far by email. What payment form are you using to enter these donations? I noticed there was no application name associated with these transactions.
