  • Multiple Temp Contacts Throwing Errors

    some of our temporary contacts are not processing we are receiving the following error:

    Insert failed. First exception on row 0; first error: FIELD_CUSTOM_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION, Failed to create Account for Contact Samantha Allen. Use one of these records?: []--null--340--(CnP_PaaS)--System.DmlException

    in this case, the donation can be found in connect via the order number but not the donor name.

    Good day!

    As the error implies you have a custom validation in your ACCOUNT and as such when we try to create an account for NEW user it generates an error.

    This is a custom validation.. you may want to look at your custom field validations and see what is blocking us.

    A simple test is to create (manually) an account with the same information posted. You will definitely see a pop-up by Salesforce that alerts you of validation violation. That will easily tell you what is wrong.

    Let us know how that goes.

      So create a new account with the donor contact info?

      This is one of literally hundreds of temp contacts that we have and are approving today. They are all coming through the same form so I'm confused how this validation error is coming up for this record.

        Good day!

        Yes.. if you create a manual ACCOUNT using the information provided in the record.

        It is simple- your validation is failing .. this is not something that we have any control over. It is a validation that you have written on the ACCOUNT object.

        It should be easy to figure this out.

          hmmn, if only everything that was supposed to be easy actually was.

          I just tried to create a contact (for us we create the contact and the system creates the account/household).

          I created the contact using name and address and the error given was

          "Error: Invalid Data.
          Review all error messages below to correct your data.
          Failed to create Account for Contact Jessica Allen. Use one of these records?"

          The only place that had a red mark next to it was the donor's last name "Allen" so I'm not sure how one would fix that.

            OK..

            that may get us closer.

            Change the first name to Allen2 or Allen9999 and see if it works.

            If it works.. then you have a duplication error on first name. That is the only explanation.

                you mean change the last name, right?

                I just changed it to Allen2 and then it went through.

                We have the standard click&pledge duplicate check.

                  Great.. now we know the issue.

                  As for duplicate check.. please note that C&P does not have any duplicate check. This is a custom code someone in your organization has written or a custom duplicate checker. C&P does not have any duplicate checker. If we find a match we simply attach the transaction to the match and if we do not find it then we put it in the Temp.

                  Please check the validation rule you have written. I am sure you will find it. If you cannot find it we can ask our developers to look into your instance and show you the code you have enabled.

                    There are different instructions that you give C&P that tells it when to make a temp contact. That is what I'm referring to. I believe using the "semi" option tells it to looks for Xyz matches and if they apply then create a temp contact. We do not have a customized duplicate checker.

                      there is a custom validation (as the error clearly states). A custom validation is not coming from a program and is custom.
