Plans to Integrate with Enhanced Recurring Donations?

Hello,

With Salesforce announcing and releasing an upgrade called Enhanced Recurring Donations, what is C& P's plan to integrate with this upgrade? Any insight into the roadmap would be much appreciated.

We are still reviewing internally to include as part of version 10. Thus far, the primary differences we have found in the "Enhanced Recurring Donations" model have been:

• changing the number of open Opportunities that are created to one, rather than creating a set range of future open opportunities based on NPSP Settings
• a field for the day of the month that the payments are expected

These don't really affect the primary issue that has posed a problem for us - that of not knowing the id of the open opportunity that a particular payment should settle.
The Opportunities for Enhanced Recurring Donations appear to be related to the NPSP Recurring Donations in the same way as before: a lookup field on the Opportunity relating it to the Recurring Donation record.

At this point, we don't anticipate that using Enhanced Recurring Donations will pose any additional problems than the former version of NPSP Recurring Donations does.

What additional benefits as an NPSP customer are you expecting to get from using Enhanced Recurring Donations?

Thanks for the thorough reply. My org. has not utilized Recurring Donations in NPSP thus far as we don't have many recurring donations currently, but I know we'll be working to increase this in the near future. I have heard issues with reconciling the Recurring Donations records in NPSP with the C&P transactions posted. I know that C&P can process recurring donations itself, so I am thinking I will stay with C&P Recurring Donations to make things easier moving forward. Any updates on integrations with NPSP Recurring Donations would be helpful to know moving forward though. Thank you!

Staying with C&P Recurring Donations is probably your best bet.

Nonprofits that implement NPSP before considering C&P Recurring often have a hard time distinguishing that NPSP is, or at least used to be, an add-on app similar to C&P Payment as a Service (PaaS).Using NPSP Recurring Donations does seem like the most obvious path, and they can be frustrated when PaaS does not automatically tie payments to their open NPSP Recurring Opportunities. Trying to use both really ends up being more work than the effort is worth.

A quick update on this from my end and I would love to know your recommendation on this. We are about to launch a recurring donation campaign and will push them through C&P, but we have been receiving checks from platforms like Benevity and other platforms that are technically recurring donations. In my attempts, I have been unable to log these recurring donations using C&P Virtual Terminal because the system doesn't support the custom type that just logs a check we have already received instead of running the transaction itself. Is there a way to do this that I am unaware of? If not, will I now need to use NPSP's built-in Recurring Donations to record these types of recurring donors?

No, there is no way to set up C&P Recurring Donations with a custom payment method.
