Mapping comments to Salesforce

Hello,

I'm struggling to map comments left on C&P to my Salesforce Opportunities. I'm almost there, but as I search past forum posts, I'm seeing (what I think) are some conflicting ways to capture the field. When I look in the data, I see "SocialComment" as the field name, but in forum posts I'm seeing "Public Comment" used and then I saw a help article that says you should capture it exactly as written on the form, which is "Your public posted comment:"

Which value do I enter in the question field for the custom mapping to pull these comments automatically into Salesforce?

Also, I saw that in the past it wasn't possible to pull comments from already posted transactions, but thought I'd confirm that there isn't a way to do this without manually moving for those transactions that have already posted?

Ok, I think I was able to get this to work by trial and error, but now I'm trying to map another field into Sales Force - the anonymous check box. I think I have most everything figured out except that where I find the "Question" data for the custom field mapping...

The "Public Comment" worked, but I don't see that title on the form, in the data, or anywhere else. If you can point me toward the source location for field names I should be using in custom mapping, that would be helpful.

It looks like the public comment is set to Hide in your Campaign which is the reason you don't see it in the form. Would you please share the Campaign name so that we can review it?

Yep, it's The Joen Bettmann Fund campaign. The comment is available and people are submitting them. I've got those going succesfully over to Salesforce now, but I had to figure out the value to put in "Question" for custom mapping by trial and error. I'd like to know where I find the list of values that I should be using for custom mapping other fields, if that makes sense?

Please note that "SocialComment" is not the custom field and it cannot be mapped. Regarding the "Your public posted comment" it will post to SF as "Public Comment" so you need to put the value as "Public Comment" in the question field.

Please note that you always need to follow the XML values to enter in the question field in custom mapping.

Thanks, it sounds like the XML values is what I'm looking for. Where can I find/see the XML values for all fields on any given form?

You can find the XML under C&P Data of that respecitve order number.

Ok, so now I'm lost again...I had looked at C&P Data and that's where I had gotten one of the wrong field names...the XML data show this:

<Field>SocialComment</Field>

In ever record that has a comment, it is appearing attached to this field. So, in this case if I refer to the XML data, I get the wrong value to put in the custom mapping. I'm confused...why does the XML not show "Public Comment" as the value, and where would I have been able to find that field name?

The SocialComment is listed higher in the XML, and may be a remnant of an older format,

But the XML you need for the Public Comment is there, on line 125:




You would see if you had other custom questions, that their information would also be presented in this Field Name/Field Value pairing. These are the fields you can call in Custom Mapping.

Got it - thank you...I was able to find that. The value is passed in both the Social and Public comment fields...I just wasn't looking far enough down. Is there a place where you all keep an updated list of the XML values that are most current so we don't have to trial and error to find out that older values like this won't pass?

There is no specific list but the same values in Custom Field in XML will apply in custom mapping.
