  • How to map a checkbox

We need to add a checkbox on the form to feed to a checkbox on the Opportunity in salesforce

Here's what I did. But the mapping interface doesn't make sense
    .
    1. Created a custom question of type Checkbox. The Question is "We may send you occasional emails about our work. Please uncheck this box if you do not wish to receive news and updates"
    1. It forces me to add an "Option" on top of that, even though I just want a checkbox yes/no on that single question above. So I add an Option "Please keep me informed"

    2. Created a Custom Question Mapping in Salesforce app. The mapping only asks for the Question and the answer, it doesn't let me say if OPTION is TRUE or FALSE, check the Email Opt Out Box. I need to say:

    IF...
    • "Please Keep Me informed= TRUE, uncheck the Email Opt Out Box
    • "Please Keep Me informed= FALSe, check the Email Opt Out Box

How do we map the need above of a single question and a single checkbox to a checkbox field in salesforce please.

(and please fix links to documentation in the app-- NONE of them actually open articles and searching in your pile of single docs turns up nothing)

    Good day @Perc-BRC

Would you please grant us login access to your Salesforce instance and share the OrgID as well as the ORDER NUMBER so that we can review it?

There is no order number yet; I'm just trying to set up the integration for the first time (see my other post that the integration isn't actually working), and the mapping of a checkbox custom question doesn't make any intuitive sense, so I am looking for instructions. Right now I am working around it w/ a picklist, but we would really like a checkbox. Thanks

In this case, we suggest you add a custom question (type Checkbox) into your form as follows:

Question: "We may send you occasional emails about our work. Please check this box if you wish to receive news and updates"

        and then...

Here is the change, you need to add TWO mappings for the same custom question in your Custom Mapping in SF >> C&P Settings. One for the Checked box and the other one with Unchecked box and the answer should be "Checked" and "Not Checked".

        Example:

Size:	43.8 KB

        Hope that helps.

Hi- That would work if the Question on the Connect side was only a single question and a single checkbox, but when you add a checkbox type question in the Form Builder on Connect, it requires not only the question but an "Option" that relates to the checkbox (and you can add more than one). So there's another layer your mapping above doesn't include-- where do you map telling it if the option is true/false. Image attached. Thanks

            Good day @Perc-BRC

In this case, the answer is the option name instead of "Checked" and "Not Checked".

            Example:

You need to add the number of checkbox fields you have in the questions to the mapping.

            Hope that makes sense.

Given that mapping-- there is no way to pass a TRUE OR FALSE value on a single checkbox field that I can see. It's only one value per option passed. So there is no way for a regular checkbox experience-- pass true for a check and false for unchecked.

How do I get the checkbox field on the form to go with the mapping you demo'd in the first screenshot above please? We just need a single checkbox, a regular checkbox experience,. not a radio-button-style list of options. This is exceedingly standard UI, just a boolean and pass the boolean. Can it not do that?

              THanks

You don't need to pass true or false but in mapping, it considers unchecked box as False. All you need to is as follows:

I am trying to map ONLY the false value and do nothing with a true. If the false somehow happens automatically, that means I *have* to map the true in order for it to know the custom question exists?

This is a very common use case-- I have a checkbox that says "We will send you emails, please uncheck this box to not receive them" And then that being FALSE should check the Email Opt Out.

I will rework my question to fit your strange model, but it's not at all intuitive and I can't be the first person who is confused by this and needs more standard integration. There should be a way to have a single checkbox with no "options" (aka don't fake a checkbox with a radio button) and then you can say what to do if it's checked and what to do if it's unchecked. A Boolean is about as basic as it gets .

                  Thanks

Although you only need to map the false value, it is very straightforward to create a rule for both TRUE and FALSE.

I understand your point and will bring this up next week to review internally

How do you create a rule for FALSE on a single option? According to you, I add the "answer" as the Option text, not what the Boolean was for the text? The rule you shared above says If the Option is TRUE, replace the text with True or False. Where do I say IF THE OPTION IS FALSE, do something else please?

                      Thanks

Please note that in case of patron Checked the box then it considers it as TRUE and if the box left unchecked it considers it as False. In your case, you need to do the mapping for the Checked box ONLY i.e. TRUE.

But that's the thing, in this case I don't WANT to map the true, I only need to take action if the box was *unchecked*. If Option is Unchecked, check email opt out. I see no way to do that in your scenario as described. But this is just a waste of time it seems, since from all I can tell your mapping can't do that. I'm going to make them rewrite the question to be checked for the scenario they need to map. Thanks

Using a non-Boolean style for the checkbox field does allow checkboxes to be used for Multiple Select options. Perhaps you can modify your question as a header, such as 'Subscribe', etc. and then use your Option as the value you would like to sit beside the textbox, as demonstrated in this video:

You end up with a form that does have a single checkbox. It's not the way you originally intended to set it up, but does achieve the desired effect.

In Salesforce, you would just create the question as whatever text you used as the Question to head your false 'section', as demonstrated in the video.
Here's a resource for Custom Mapping in Salesforce.
