  • create opportunity from tax deductible amount

We host an event where a percentage of the ticket is tax-deductible. We want this tax-deductible amount to show as a donation in Salesforce. So, we'd like to create 2 opportunities when a click and pledge payment posts to Salesforce: 1) one opportunity for the event ticket, and 2) one opportunity for the donation.

We use the "% Deductible" field when creating payment options, and we are familiar with using SKUs.

How do we go about creating this in the C&P Salesforce app?

The ticket itself is the "Line Item" on the transaction, and we create an Opportunity for each Line Item. You can see the Tax Deductibe amount on the Opportunity if you add the C&P Tax Deductible field to your layout; but there is no way to create 2 opportunities per ticket purchase.

Do you have multiple types of tickets, or just one? You could take advantage of the Additional Payment Option, lock the amount, and change the label to 'Tax-Deductible Amount'. The issue you're likely to have is that there's only one Additional Payment per transaction, and although you can require a certain number of tickets before displaying it, you can't change the amount.

If you're doing this so that you can code the amounts differently for accounting - you could explore using the PaaS General Ledger tab to allocate different amounts based on SKU, or NPSP also has a GAU feature (General Allocation Units).
