  • Incorrect currency conversion from order to recurring transaction.

I have an order that was charged for $1 CAN as you can see here: Order number 38567-1907161111328266815. This was the first payment of a recurring transaction 471096. The recurring transaction shows that only $0.76 CAN was paid.

I have granted login access to Org ID 00D29000000Ed9W. This is a sandbox. I first brought up this issue during C&P office hours on 7/31/19.

Your user login has USD currency as it's preference and so your login was used to create the record when it arrived. The Connected User is Canadian.

Please try enabling Parenthetical Currency Conversion.

    To test:
    1. go to C&P Settings > Maintenance and paste the order number in the delete box
    2. Uncheck C&P Data - because we will be reposting from that record. Then Delete.
    3. paste the order number into the Global Search to find the C&P Data record.
    4. The C&P Data record should have a button to 'Repost'. This takes the raw data from the record and re-processes it into Salesforce according to the current settings.

As your user is a USD user, you will hopefully see the Total Paid on the Recurring Record displayed in parentheses, so you'll know it has been converted to a USD amount.

Let us know how that goes, Amanda

This appears to have worked. I have another question about Order ID 38567-1906261105345306815. This is listed as Authorized in Salesforce but has no Amount and no Opportunity was created. In Connect, it is in a pre-authorized status. How do I move it out of pre-authorized and sync it to Salesforce. Why would an authorized record be created in Salesforce if the card was not actually charged?

There was no amount entered for the original transaction. Someone swiped a card for the purpose of pre-authorization. It processed in Salesforce correctly.

No Opportunity was created because the Settings indicate not to:

And the transaction was recorded and has the 'Card on File' available inside Salesforce:

        Make sense?

I'm sorry to open up this case again after so long, but we continue to have a problem with this. Specifically, one users appears to only be able to create pre-authorized transactions. Attached is a screen shot of the virtual terminal where the users was attempting to set up a recurring transaction. As you can see, they specified CAD$1.00 When they process the transaction however, it only pre-authorizes the card. Is there a permission or setting they are missing?

            Good day @dcallahan

We reviewed the above images and noticed that you have selected the installment for the periodicity of 999 and the CAD is 1. The issue is how could you charge CAD1 in 999 installments? 1/999=0.00100100 which is technically not possible and it is more or less equal to zero that is the reason it is pre-authorizing the card.

            Hope you see the point.

Yes, that does make sense. I'm guessing that for an indefinite recurring gift, my client should use the "Subscription" option. Is that correct?

                Let me explain about recurring:

There are 2 methods for recurring:
                • Installment: installment is when you want to pay a large sum in smaller payments, like buying a car and making payments on a monthly basis. An example: $10,000 making payments over 10 months of $1000 each.
                • Subscription: Similar to a monthly donation when you donate $10 a month for a period of 12 months.
Yes, it seems like you want to use the Subscription and pass the periodicity as 999, in other words, the method is Subscription & the periodicity is 999.

Please note that in case of Subscription the amount will NOT be divided, it will charge the card with the selected amount with the number of times based on periodicity. Only in case of Installment, the amount will be divided into the number of times based on periodicity.

Please make sure to follow the above and let us know if you still have questions.
