  • Custom Mapping/Fields not working

Was at Live Support and was instructed to post here.
I have a test dinner registration set up in my Salesforce.
    Sue's Test Dinner
I have 3 custom fields for each attendee.
I have mapping set up for these to map to opportunity.
    No information is being mapped.
    One order is 60263-1907261423527121111

Our opportunity does not have a field call Primary Contact.
We have a field called Contact Person with the api contact_person__c
I would like the Registrant Contact info to map to this field, but I don't see a way to do this.
When I do custom mapping I have to set this field equal to some text, not another field.
How can I have this mapped?

    I have set access

Please note that the custom questions of Attendee/Level cannot map, only Registrant custom question can be mapped. If you please grant us login access to your Salesforce instance, we will review the registrant mapping.

      I have granted access.
How would I do meal choice for dinners (fairly common request correct?) if I can't map attendee fields.

        Good Day @slipsey1

We just reviewed your instance and realized we do not have access. Please grant “Click & Pledge Support” access for a week so that we can review. Instructions are provided at the top of this page in the light green area.

            Hi Sue,

Contacts are assigned to Opportunities through a related record called Contact Role. I notice in your C&P Settings > Opportunity that you did not have the C&P Contact Role checked.

Click image for larger version Name:	2019-07-31_LS Sue Lipsey 01.jpg Views:	0 Size:	104.1 KB ID:	47768

I looked around a bit more and discovered that the Account had a related list of Affiliated Contacts, but Walt Disney's Account did not show a relation to the Walt Disney Contact. But Walt Disney's Contact is assigned to the Walt Disney Account.

I also find the icon for the related list of Affiliated Contacts to be unusual.
So I will let our team review this issue further, as I am concerned that just correcting the C&P Settings to add the Contact Role may not be enough to resolve your issue.

              1. My affiliations are part of the HEDA pacakge (higher education), not the NPSP package. Yes the objects have the same label.

              2. You say to check create contact roles for each opportunity but this is for an opportunity team, and you set a static value based on SKU.
I don't think this has anything to do with my issue.

              3. The contact will have the account as its Account Name. An affiliation is not automatically created. I have a workflow that will create the affiliation,
but it is currently turned off as I'm cleaning the database. I can turn it on as needed though.

                slipsey1,

I spoke with our team this morning. Your 'Contact Person' field is a custom field that has been added to the Opportunity. It is not part of any package that may have been installed for HEDA. The field was created by Rosemary Kamei, 12/7/2011 12:44 PM.

Click image for larger version Name:	2019-08-01_LS_Sue_Lipsey 01.jpg Views:	0 Size:	126.2 KB ID:	47784

If it had been part of an installed package, there would be a prefix for the API name - you can see that our Contact Lookup field starts with 'CnP_PaaS__'

You cannot map a lookup field, because although you see the Contact's Name on the screen, the data behind that field is actually the ID of the Contact record (this prevents issues when multiple Contacts have the same name)

We do populate the Contact field that installs with our package, as seen in blue above. This field was already on your layout, but we have moved it to be next to your 'Contact Person' field so that it is readily available.

I realize Contact Person is a custom field.
I was noting Affiliations is part of the heda package as you said the icon looked different.

                  1. Sounds like my only option is to write a workflow to copy C&P contact to Contact Person when the opp is created.\
What is the difference between C&P Event Registered Attendee and C&P Attendee Contact

                  2. I still need to map the Attendee custom questions, as we discussed several times. This is a showstopper for me at the moment.

I am stuck trying to setup my event. I won't be able to use Click and Pledge without this feature.
Can someone please help me with this issue? Thanks

The Registered Attendee is a custom object, The Attendee Contact is the Contact that is assigned for that Registered Attendee. So the registered attendee has an id from the Attendee object and the Contact has an ID from the Contact object.

There is no specific way to set up a map for a custom Contact field, as there is a native way that Salesforce populates an Opportunity's Contact- through Contact Role.

You would need to decide if you want to create an automation to update the Contact Person field from the C&P Contact field. I see that you can set a filter on the Contact LU that could limit the choices to Contacts that have the Opportunity Account as the Primary Affiliation. That may not be enough to automatically populate the field, but if it could, at least that would be away to avoid any issues with multiple attempts to access that record at the same time.

Be careful if you try to make the Contact Person field a required field though, because if you do, it could prevent PaaS from creating the Opportunity if the record couldn't satisfy the required condition.

If you decide to write an automation, Salesforce offers instructions here: https://help.salesforce.com/articleV...&type=1&mode=1. Be aware that C&P creates the record, and then updates the record based on the Custom Mappings in C&P Settings- and you don't want your process to interfere with PaaS doing that update to the same record, so you may want to set a short wait time before your process updates the record- like a minute or two...

OK I will handle the entry for the Contact field as I noted above.
My priority is finding out how to map the custom fields for the attendee to the opportunity or anywhere.

Is there any way to do this?
I have a question for Meal Preference at the event that is related to each Attendee.
How do I get this info into Salesforce?

I have been asking this question since last Wednesday.
                          Thanks for any help

First of all, those are not custom fields but custom questions and as stated above Attendee information cannot be mapped to any of the objects. However, the Attendee information is in Salesforce under respective Event >> Registrant >> Attendee details page. You can download the Attendee report for that event where you will find all of that information and this is how all other organizations get the information of attendee custom questions.

                              Hi
I am still having fun with the Contact Person.
Contact Person is required on our Opportunities.
Someone must have deleted Contact Role at some point in the Salesforce org.
I need to get data into the Contact Person field.
C&P is creating the opportunity okay without the required field but the workflow throws an error because there is no data in it.

My work around is to assign the Contact Person for all C&P opportunities to a temporary contact.
Then using the workflow to reassign it later.
I set up custom mapping to assign this contact to Contact Person no data ends up in Contact Person.
I've been trying it with DMD event on my account and have allowed access for you.
                              Any help appreciated.
