  • transaction data detail campaign is different than primary campaignsource opportunity

Hi, if you take a look at this C&P Data detail https://na35.salesforce.com/a1641000004wCZUAA2 for Transaction-24564 and order 6448-1807102157172592847, it says that <Campaign>18.07 General Appeal Summer Online</Campaign>

However, in the opportunity https://na35.salesforce.com/0064100000SIw2z it shows
Primary Campaign Source FY18 Website Online Giving
We want the primary campaign source to show the 18.07 General Appeal Summer Online. Please help.

    Thanks.

    Monica,

In April, we needed to modify the Salesforce apps to distinguish between a 'Transaction Campaign' and the 'Item Campaign'.

This can cause an issue when you are setting your Salesforce Campaign from Connect > (Campaign Name) > Campaign Details > Payments Settings - Salesforce Campaign. Obviously this is a setting that looks to be applied to an entire transaction to that Campaign, but Salesforce Users are typically concerned with the Campaign assigned to the Opportunity, which is equivalent to the "Item" level- that is each item purchased in a transaction creates a separate opportunity.

In this situation, please upgrade to the latest release, and in C&P Settings > Opportunity, add rules to cover any transactions that may be getting the Salesforce Campaign suggestion from Connect. You can force those transactions to use the Salesforce Campaign specified in Connect by checking 'Use Transaction Campaign'. Salesforce Campaign in Connect will eventually be deprecated.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but the good news is that this was a necessary change to allow for shopping cart functionality and improved features for Events, so it does pave the way for much better things, and more simplified Campaign management.

      Hi,

I'm not sure I understand this part: "add rules to cover any transactions that may be getting the Salesforce Campaign suggestion from Connect" What kind of rules? This is a donation that was processed through an online donation form.
The current setting does have the "Use Transaction Campaign" checked.

I reviewed your Campaigns in Connect, and the 'Use Transaction Campaign' covers how Opportunities are created for all of your forms - Events, Connect, Virtual Terminal, which should be fine for the moment.

I do have a suggested strategy for going forward, I'll get back to you tomorrow. ~ Amanda
