  • How to test our form/widget to see if it works?

In an earlier exchange I understood that the best way for us to test a transaction is to use a custom payment method (cash or check) because it wouldn't actually have to process a card. In Connect, how do we add the cash and check Custom Payment Methods to the list of other methods? We want to test our attempts at donation forms and widgets and make sure fields are mapping correctly, among other things. What is the best way to do this? thanks

    Good day @Susanna

As of now, you can't test the Connect forms using test cards nor can add custom payment type to the forms/widgets. But, you may select the same Connect Campaign and Form in C&P VT in Salesforce and process the transaction through Custom Payment type to test the Form flow.

Is there still no way to test a form using a dummy card? I've been testing using my own card and then issuing credits but now the system is declining any card for which I've done a refund in the past. I've not had this problem previously so I don't know why this is happening all of a sudden but it is extremely inconvenient and doesn't make good business sense. We need to be able to ensure a form works before we publish it so there should be a way to do so. You suggest going through the virtual terminal but there is no way to pick the form so the custom questions aren't there to test. Am I missing something?

        Good day @Jennifer

Yes, as of now there is no way to test the Connect forms. Maybe your transactions get blocked by our fraud scanner. Please let me know the last four digits of the card as well as the date the transaction was processed so that we can review it.

I did a charge and a credit yesterday around 3:30 on a card ending in 1467 then tried again with that card this morning around 8 and it was declined. I then used a card ending in 4846 which went through so I credited it and then realized the custom questions didn't map correctly. I fixed the issue and tried to run the card again but it was declined so I had to use yet another card. My fear is that the next time I need to test a form, none of my cards are going to work. It really isn't an ideal system and would be much easier if one could just test the forms.

I just discovered that it was our bank that caused the declination of the charges; however, this points to why it is so imperative that there be a way to test the system that does not involve real credit cards. Please incorporate a testing mechanism on the Connect platform!
