    Hello,

    I am wondering how much I should relax matching criteria to avoid temporary contacts for individuals already in the system. Is this based on the Match Field section, or the Contact and Account mapping? If it's the first, would you recommend having it just be last name and email? (Right now, Chris vs Christopher isn't matching.) If it's the Contact and Account mapping, it looks like we will be processing things mostly as temporary contacts first since we often do not have complete information such as billing and shipping information that will completely match an existing contact due to incomplete data.

    Thank you and let me know if I should grant you access and let you know which transactions and contacts I'm referring to.

    Good day @rcivic2

    Basically it has been designed to avoid duplicates for individual already in the system NOT temp contacts. Based on the match mode and match fields settings under Contacts & Accounts (see attached image), every coming contact will compare those fields, if those fields value matches with the fields of existing contact it will create alias otherwise it will create new contact. However, we recommend you to maintain the settings for Match Mode as Semi Automatic Contact Creation and Match Fields as First Name, C&P Alias First Name, Last Name, C&P Alias Last Name and Email, C&P Alias Email as we saw most of the organization use this method to avoid duplicates.

    You may want to go with Fully Automatic Contact Creation to avoid temp contacts. If Match Mode is other than “Fully Automatic Contact Creation”, you can find all your NEW Contacts in Temporary Contacts and if it is Semi Automatic then only existing contact will merge with that existing contact as an Alias and new will be in C&P Temporary contact.
