  • Credit card transactions declined - do not honor

Hi, I see that there are a total of 43 declined credit card transactions so far in May. When I looked up the transaction detail in TransFirst, I see that most of them have the reason: Do not honor. What does this actually mean? Some examples:

    175177235510438892887
    175177235827414714866

    Thanks.

    Good day @mjokiman

The "Do Not Honor" message by the bank is a bit confusing at times since it means many things - In general the message is posted back to us by banks based on the following conditions:
    • Card declines due to insufficient available credit - so in this case "Do Not Honor" means the bank does not honor it or simply declines it.
    • Card is replaced by another number and this specific expiration date or number is not honored anymore.
    • Card type is not honored
Our experience shows the message mostly means a general decline.

We have no control over these messages - we simply report what the bank sends us. It is always best for the card holder to contact the bank and ask for the reason for decline.

Hope that answers your question. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

These donors are recurring donors. They have been giving monthly. We just switched to click and pledge this month, we had no issues with these donors in previous months with our old processor. 43 just seem a pretty high number of transactions not going through especially when it's been fine previously.

        Good day mjokiman

Sorry for the problem - you have no idea how much we love to process all credit cards but when the bank declines it we have no choice but to show you what the bank is telling us.

Is there anyway you can contact one of your patrons to see why their bank has declined it? Could their bank identify this as something new or out of ordinary for them? We are truly not in a position to answer this question- their banks are declining these transactions and tell us the response. We cannot contact the banks as they will not talk to us - the only people that can possibly tell you are the donors. You may simply go to the recurring and click on try again in Connect or Salesforce and we will try them again and put them back in the queue but unless they authorize we will not be able to process them.

        Hope that helps.

My client's cards were flagged because they were using a form at an event. Now a lot of them say Declined do not honor. This happened because of Click & Pledge's fraud policy. How can these people use their credit cards again? Can you unblock all of these declined cards? There is nothing wrong with the cards, they can be used anywhere else besides our donation pages.

            Thank you for your help.
