  • Campaign not copying consistently to C&P Recurring record

    When creating a gift via SF Virtual Terminal, the campaign never makes it over to the Transaction and if a recurring gift, it never makes it to the C&P Recurring record. Even though campaign is specified in C&P Data XML (though it seems in 2 different places between web an Salesforce VT), it's not in the Transaction or the Recurring record. It works fine from web forms, regardless of if it's a single or recurring transaction. The opportunity gets the campaign just fine.

    The campaign on recurring gifts especially is useful in reporting on which campaigns led to recurring gifts.

    Follow up question while it gets fixed: Will future opps have the campaign, even though the C&P Recurring record doesn't have it? Where does the campaign get pulled from on future recurring transactions?

      Here's a report to see the overall pattern that those created from inside SF Virtual Terminal don't get a campaign, while all those from gravity forms seem to work fine. https://na8.salesforce.com/00OC0000006jMp5
      You can click through to Recurring to see the campaign not repeated, but note that I actually have hand-migrated campaign on a lot of the Recurring. Below are specific examples I've not touched yet.

        We reviewed your instance and the above order number and noticed that the Campaign which you are referring to is Item Campaign NOT Transaction Campaign that is the reason the Campaign doesn't assigned to the Recurring and Transaction:

        Please note that in order to assign the Transaction Campaign you need to enter at Transaction Campaign under C&P VT:

          Hi- What is the point of the Item Campaign field on the Virtual Terminal then? Do we have to enter in both places? How do we use a transaction campaign in the File Batch Upload? This org needs to upload hundreds of recurring gifts as they migrate off an old system, and all of them need that campaign to make it to the recurring gift.

            There are TWO types of Campaigns: Item Campaign: Which is for the item in the basket and the other one is the Transaction Campaign: Which is for the entire Transaction.

            In File Batch Upload you can specify the Transaction Campaign in column Z:

              Hi- Thanks for the clear images. Which do we need in which situation, please-- one time gifts versus recurring? We need the campaign of the first transaction in recurring gifts to end up on every transaction, opportunity, AND the recurring gift itself, and we need the one-time gifts to get the campaign on the transaction and the opp. Will just the Transaction Campaign accomplish that? I'd hate to slow users down having to double enter in VT or in upload. I've read through as many instructions as I can find and don't see which field does what.

                Yes, the Transaction Campaign will accomplish both the cases, one time gifts and Recurring. If you assign the Transaction Campaign, it will end up on every transaction, opportunity and the recurring gift itself.

                Please note that in case if you have assigned any Campaign in Primary Campaign Source (C&P Settings > Opportunity > Primary Campaign Source) and if you have any Custom Mapping (C&P Settings > Custom Mapping) for Campaign, if it satisfy the condition then it overwrite the Campaign for the Opportunity but remains same for Recurring and Transaction Campaign.
