Does C&P cache opportunity stage values?

Good day @snesson
Yes, we tested by double clicking to edit the stage field NOT into edit mode. Also, we have tested with the opportunity record which has been created before and after the deletion of Stage. It disappeared in both the cases.

Thank you for testing the scenario and confirming that the deleted stage disappears from the picklist. I know that it takes a few minutes or longer, depending on the number of records in the instance - Salesforce runs a batch job to delete/replace the stage. Please confirm that your test included double clicking to edit the stage field, and not just going into edit mode on the opportunity. The problem only occurs for me when I double click to edit the stage field.

Good day @snesson
C&P is not caching the opportunity stage values. The picklist which you are referring to is Salesforce standard picklist. We have tested above scenario in our test instances and found that after deleting the Stage, it disappeared from picklist but in few minutes (not immediately).

Does C&P cache opportunity stage values?
I'm seeing an unusual (but not problematic) behavior in Salesforce that I only see on Opportunity records created by C&P. It may not be related to C&P at all, but I'm stumped so I'll ask the forum in hopes that someone can shed some light on it.
I deleted an opportunity Stage (not renamed, or inactivated, but straight out deleted). The stage no longer appears in the Stage field definition, nor in any Sales process. It's not on the C&P Settings Opportunity page, and it's not in any custom question mapping. The deleted stage (I'll call it StageX) does not appear in the Stage picklist in new opportunities. Nor does it appear in the Stage picklist when I edit existing opportunities.
However, StageX does appear in the Stage picklist of opportunities that are created by C&P when I use double-click-to-edit Stage. This happens for records created by C&P before I deleted StageX, and those created after I deleted StageX.
Does this ring any bells? Does C&P cache stage values? A hint that may mean something to you but doesn't help me: Salesforce support says it has something to do with the record having been created by Apex.Tags: None
