  • How to map my Payment Page custom questions into Salesforce

Hello. I have a C&P Connect payment form that asks four Custom Questions to every donor. I need to see these data inputs in Salesforce but cannot find them. I have followed the steps on https://support.clickandpledge.com/s...custom-mapping and still not seeing my Custom Qestions in any of the drop-down menus.

    Our client id is 35232

    Please advise, thanks.

    Good day AndreaF

Please note that by default all these questions are displayed in the Transaction. If you go to the C&P Transaction you will see the Question & Answers.

The questions are not displayed for you to choose from when you go to mapping- you have to type the question as you see them and we will match them when a transaction posts. For example:

In Connect you ask the question: "Who is your employer?"

In Salesforce you should type the question in the mapping question: "Who is your employer?"

Please note that the text has to be exact since match the text in the mapping area to the data that posts in C&P Data.

    I hope that clarifies it.

Do you see the questions in the "C&P Transaction" for the transaction?

Thank you. Yes, I see them in C&P Transactions, but I do need them in Salesforce.

When I'm creating the Opportunity Fields in NPSP, is it the Field Label or the Field Name that must match the question text exactly?

        Good day @AndreaF

Questions and Answers should match exactly in the Custom Question Mapping whereas you need to select the opportunity fields to be mapped from drop down menu under Custom Mapping:

        Example:

Hope that makes sense. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

          Thanks, this is helpful!
I have more questions, as I try to get this mapping accomplished.

          1) For the questions thus far that are of the picklist or radio-button type, the "Then Replace Text With" function is replacing it with the first item in my picklist. I've tested by making a donation, and I can confirm that it IS OVERWRITING the donor-entered values. Help. This screen won't allow me to delete that. Where is that controlled?

          2) Confirming that Questions and Answers need to match exactly to the wording in which they're asked on the Payment Form. Does that mean the Opportunity Field can have a different name?

Update: I've temporarily solved the problem by creating all new Opportunity Fields, all as "text" type. My previous fields were picklists and radio buttons with options to match those on the c&P Payment Form. Now the donor's values are coming through.

Doing this met my urgent goal of ensuring that donor data flows through. But for the long term, I still have a problem.

Ideally, we would still have these questions as Picklist types, so the Admin can adjust them easily on household opportunity records. Therefore, the question is >>> how do I make it so Replace Text With does not default to any of the picklist values?

Thanks; I look forward to your response.

              Good day @AndreaF

If you would like to replace the text with the donor-entered values then what you did is correct (changed to text field).

However, if you would like to replace with picklist values in Salesforce then you should add that Question to the Custom Question Mapping with all different picklist values.

Regarding your second question, yes, the Opportunity Field can have a different name.

Hope that makes sense. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Hi AM, what I am trying to get across is that I want donor-entered values to be retained when they come into Salesforce, but I also want the field to have a Picklist, so if administrators need to do manual gift entry, they see the possible choices and cannot type a different value into that field.

Is there not any way possible to make the field a Picklist but not allow overwriting from the mapping tool above?

Thanks; I hope I am stating my question clearly. -Andrea

                  Good day @AndreaF

As stated above, to make that happened, you will need to map the question to Custom Question Mapping with all different picklist values. If they are FOUR picklist values then map the Custom Question with each picklist value so that it will map the field accordingly (If they are FOUR values in picklist, you need to add the same question FOUR times with different picklist values).

Hope that makes sense. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Hello: I'm still not at a solution here, and what you offered is not clear. Are you saying that I would need to create a picklist field in Salesforce, then map that question to the Custom Question Map tab four times...each time with a different picklist value? That seems tedious.

I would benefit from step-by-step instructions or an example of this in use. Thanks.

                      Good day @AndreaF

Yes, you have to add the question for times to the Custom Question Mapping with different picklist values. I know it is tedious but that is how the system know what to map and what to replace with.

Hope that helps. Please try it and let us know if you find any issues.
