Changing dollar amount associated with a pledge

I would like to edit a pledge to change the dollar amount of the pledge, but it appears that that field cannot be changed in your VF page.

Is there a reason why one cannot change the pledge amount?

If I change it through dataloader, will I run into a problem?

It turns out, when I go to a pledge and click Edit, I cannot modify the pledge amount due to VF choices. However, if I go to a list view of all pledges and edit that, then I can change the amount. Is this really your intended behavior? Or is there a bug on the VF page?
