SalesForce Public Site URL field in C&P Designer

I am trying to set up auto responder and am creating a template in Designer. It asks for the SalesForce Public Site URL and actually requires is. We do not actually have a SalesForce Public Site URL. The Force.com URL we will be using will be strictly for internal Partner use. What I want to know is if this URL is going to be seen by the donor or send the donor to it?

The site URL is used for serving images which is uploaded from local system. You can use an existing site or create a new one and paste it into the designer so that images can be displayed in the email.
