  • Is it necessary to have a contact record type?

If installing into an org that hitherto had no contact recordtype (was still using the Master), is there a way to NOT use a record type for contacts in Click & Pledge? There's a great deal of custom code that will need to be adopted to use recordtypes, but we have no real need for c&p-created contacts to have their own rectype. Thanks.

    Good day!

This option is not available in the current release. In release 10 this behavior is set based on the Salesforce settings. You may change the record type to anything you want in the C&P Settings but a record type has to be assigned to a record.

The customization may be done at the C&P Settings as shown below:

    C&P Settings > Contacts & Accounts

    In C&P Settings > Opportunity

As stated in the next release due out in Q1 of 2017 Record Type will not be visible unless they are defined in Salesforce.

    Hope that answers your question.

Sorry, one more question-- would it to C&P matter if only the C&P contacts were created with a record type while our existing contacts are left at the master/null record type? Can Click & Pledge still search for matches, merge, etc? Thanks!

          Good day!

We really do not do anything with Record Type so what you are suggesting will work.

          Hope that answers your question.
