Help! How do I set the C&P Class and General Ledger

Sorry but I can't quite understand the question.

Are you asking how to set up the SKUs or how the General Ledger feature works?

OK I need some sort of documentation to enable me to use the General Ledger functionality. I entered the account name/numbers,classes,subclasses etc. Now I need the "when an opportunity is created xxx must exist/permissions must be set so that the proper codes are made available in the opportunity detail." I would like to be able to run a report on the opportunities to see how they fall into class or account. For example we want to know we had $dollars or awareness materials sold in our shop. We want to know that $Y in donations came from personal donations v. corporate grants. I want to be able to dump a CSV that I can manipulate and import into Quickbooks.
