Recommendation for Card Reader

Hi,

We need to purchase card readers to use with Virtual Terminal.
We were unable to get Magtek part #21040102 to function in Windows 8 with C&P.

Can you please direct us to card swipers that have proven successful in use with VT?

The requirement is that the USB card-reader be a 3-track "Keyboard Emulation" reader. While your reader has keyboard emulation capability it also can be set to HID. Please check to see that it is set to Keyboard Emulation
We usually recommend card readers that are Keyboard Emulation ONLY such as the Magtek 21040145.

The MagTek 21040145 is not so widely available for purchase - any other generic options that we can purchase from any staples / office depot that would work in C&P?

The card swipe you purchased reads using HID and MSR encoding. As mentioned before, what is required for our system is a 3-track "keyboard-emulation" reader, also known as a "wedge" reader.
The Magtek SureSwipe USB Reader (Model: MAG21040145) works well. It is sold at Amazon for $52.45

Other keyboard-emulation readers work as well. However, we have had some issues with card-readers that can read HID cards and are switchable between HID and keyboard emulation.

We ran a big event this past Saturday night and got card readers to capture cc info directly in to C&P box office with any new registrations. As per previous replies, we purchased the recommended card reader and everything seemed to go off without a hitch... until today.... we have all the CC info and it reads as if the funds were donated however the funds were not processed and are not coming up in our CC statements only in C&P. Did I miss a step? Are they all in a batch somewhere that need to be uploaded and processed? Please advise.
