Set Opportunity Type for new gifts

I would like to set the Type of new opportunities to Recurring Donation for all recurring donations. This is for the Opportunity Type field, not the Opportunity Record Type field. The Type field is not currently available in C&P Settings > Opportunity.

Is this something you can add or is there an easy way to trigger this?
