Controlling how contact information is updated?

What version do you have? In the current version we do not update anything - the new information creates an Alias.

Is there a way to control if new information (phone, email, address, etc) coming in from a transaction will overwrite existing data in an existing contact in Salesforce? Right now nothing from C&P transaction seems to overwrite existing data and we'd like to change that.
