  • Temporary Contact -- Insufficient Privileges

    Hello,

When attempting to merge or create a new contact from a temporary contact, I am presented with the Insufficient Privileges error. This is from an System Admin profile, so I do have view and modify all permissions, so I'm not sure what I am missing. We are part of the NPSP 3.0 Pilot group, and have Household Accounts -- maybe the issue is due to how Household Accounts are created? Anyway, thanks for any help. I've granted login access as well.

    Luke

    Good day Luke!

We have not seen any issues with NPSP 3.0 (Cumulus) but are curious to find out if there any problems.

May we process tests to duplicate the issue? We don't want to create dummy contacts without your permission.

Sure thing, please go ahead. We have "Test Testerson" as a dummy contact in the system if you'd like to try one to merge with an existing record.

      Thanks.

        Good day!

We have discovered a permission issue which makes no sense to us within our scope.

We have created a support case with Salesforce and are told that the case has been escalated to the Cumulus developers. There seems to be a Cumulus issue- we are working with them to determine the root cause.

I will keep you posted & sorry for the inconvenience.

          Good day!

We received the following update from Salesforce regarding this issue.

          As of today: July 21, 2014 (8:15 a.m. EST)

As discussed, the issue was because of 'Main Competitor' field which is DEPRECATED in original package. Due to which when you are trying to make a operation to access the data related to the database is not able to access deprecated fields.

Note: we suggest our customer :
          1) to uninstall the package from all the subscriber Org when you deprecate the fields of the package.
          2) Never upgrade a beta version of package, please uninstall the package (Beta) and then try to install new version.

We will keep you updated as we learn more from Salesforce regarding Summer 2014 release issues.

Hello - I am trying to set up users who will be processing temporary contacts for C&P Events. When I give the user administrative privileges, everything works perfectly. But when I try to set up the user with anything less than an administrator profile, it says that the user has insufficient privileges. I was trying to figure out which specific permissions I needed to give the user (or to create in a new profile) so I didn't have to give this user full admin privileges. I should emphasize that the user definitely has access to C&P Events - I can get all the way to the Manage Temporary contacts tab - it's just that as soon as I click on a specific record to process the temp contact, I get the error message. Can you guide me to what user permissions I need to set up in a new profile - something that is below full administrator but enough to process temp contacts? Thanks. - Louise

Hello - I completely dropped the ball on this but am now having the same problem again and it's urgent. Now we are trying to process temporary contacts for C&P Events. I am able to process all temp contacts no problem, but the person in our organization who is supposed to be processing the temp contacts is only able to do it for temp contacts in the 'attendee details' section. When she tries to do it for records in the 'payee details' section she gets an insufficient permissions error.

This person has a profile I created called 'Spring Gala Manager'. I have reviewed the permissions for this profile and it seems like it has everything it should - but obviously I'm missing something. I just granted you guys access for a week. Could you take a look at the Spring Gala Manager profile and let me know what I need to give her so she can process payee temp contacts? I would strongly prefer not to have to give her full admin rights..

                      Good day!

We have upgraded your instance as required. Before we set up your permission please note that the person that processes the Temporary Contact needs to have the following permissions:

Create / Edit / Update permission on the following objects:
                      • Contact
                      • Account
                      • Opportunity
                      • Campaign
                      • C&P Alias
                      • C&P Transaction
                      • C&P Recurring

When a transaction posts to Salesforce and the contact is posted to the C&P Temporary Contact no actions have yet taken place. All entries are made after the Temporary Contact has been processed. The person processing is therefore the one creating all these entries.

Once we have confirmation about your understanding of the permissions that this person needs to have we will go ahead and set it up for you.

Also we are seeing that you are still using the Event 1.x event. This is no longer supported and we are removing the tabs with every upgrade. We did not remove them in your instance as it appears that you are using them. Please set up all your events using the "Event Management Tab" and if OK we will remove all 1.x tabs but we need your approval first.

Hi - no need to do anything - I can take care of it. I didn't realize that those three C&P object permissions were relevant to processing temporary contacts - so that probably was the problem. I can fix that on my own.

Also that is really weird about the C&P events 1.0 - I haven't actually been using that at all this year- I've been using the new C&P Event interface. I don't even know why that is showing up? I can hide the tab - it isn't being used.

Do you want us to remove all 1.x tabs?

Make sure all your links for event registration are the ones given in 2.x interface. We did not want to disable those in case you have those links in the wild.

OK - sorry - I actually do need help. I went back into the permissions for the Spring Gala Manager. I thought I gave all the permissions needed based on your message below, but when I log in as a Spring Gala Manager user it is STILL telling me that I have insufficient privileges when I try to process a temporary contact at the Payee level. Can you please review the permission settings for the Spring Gala Manager user profile and let me know what I'm missing?

                            Thanks

                              Good day!

                              Sure.. no problem.

Please make sure we still have access and we will try to set it up for you as soon as possible.

What will help us in testing is if you set up a user with that profile and use the following email: [email protected] as the email for the user. We will request the password reset to login and make sure we have all the permissions right. In the absence of a userid for verification we have to make the change and ask you to test it which can waste time.

Let us know if you have a user that you can spare for a day or two.
                              Regards,
